First I've heard of it. I bought an '82 GT brand new. I remember it was $11,500 new. Black on red with t-tops, leather, pw, pl, louvers, 14" alloys. No tilt or cruise (ugly steering wheel with cruise).
Really enjoyed that car for over 120k miles.

Trivia: Did you know that the '82 GT was initially going to be called a Mustang SS? It's true, and pictures in early road tests prove it. It's also in the owners manual in one spot.

Never knew that, wow going the way of Chevrolet.. They have used and abused the SS label for years. Was it still going to mean super sport?

Don't know, but the Capri performance variant was still an RS, even though GM used it on Camaros, but Ford of Europe used that badge quite a bit.
The whole SS to GT thing is why many early production GTs had decals instead of a a molded plastic emblem on the deck lid and the passenger side dash. Also, a lot of people don't realize that the intial run of GTs had the 5.0 HO 2V engine as an option, so there were 4 cyl. powered GTs as well as inline 6 cyl. GTs and the mighty 255 V8 (yawn) with its auto tranny available. Most of those did not come with hood scoops, although it was an option.

I am a member on the GT Registry. I clicked your link and I was still able to log in. Looks like the newest post was from 11/19/2020 so not too much activity. One of the newer posts was actually titled "Where is everybody?" That place was a great resource when I had my 88GT.
