Hot Rod Drag Week 2019

Anyone on the registry going to Drag Week this year, its finally Northeast tracks..
My sons and I are working on the 67 Chevelle I drove to school. 5.3 LS with turbo, 4L80E trans and a 12 bolt rear. All these things need to go into the car, it currently is just on jack stands. Our mindset for this is to have fun first off and enjoy the experience. We would like to be competitive but who cares if we win. Would be an accomplishment to make the 250 mile trip to each track and run the car without any major issues. We love the road kill shows and are sort of sticking to the road kill theme.. The car looks old and crappy but we hope to make it fly. Hope to get 600 + HP and hope to run low 10's. I know this is a long shot but it can be done and like I've said the experience with my kids is what I'm after... Bucket List type of thing.

So anyone else going?
Anyone else done Drag Week and have some tips??

Doing Hot Rod Drag Week with my son Scott Jr. Sept. 8th to the 13th... It's northeast this year.
9/8 - Tech Inspection Day @ Virginia Motorsports Park
9/9 - Virginia Motorsports Park
9/10 - Cecil County, MD
9/11 - Atco, NJ
9/12 - Maryland International Raceway
and back to VMP 9/13

Should be able to watch the action on you tube or motor mania and 1320 should be there as well.

We head out Sunday early.

Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2019

We competed and completed the week. Our car went a fastest of 11.496 at 119 mph with our junkyard motor and transmission. We did not get a roll bar installed so we needed to make another run to go slower. The week was awesome, driving along with all the hot rods it was real neat event and would definitely do it again. At one point while we were sleep deprived and sweating our butts off I did think why are we doing this to ourselves but we pressed on knowing that completing the event would be so worth it. And it was..
One 2003 Mach 1 competed as well which was pretty cool to see. I believe I saw a 12.50 pass which is respectable. Did not notice any mods on the car. Nice young man driving it..

What an insane week. Congrats on completing it and running well. It would've taken several bottles of sunscreen and even more beer to get me to the end.
