Police Interceptor purchase

A friend at work is looking at buying a Police Interceptor as a DD/fun project car. One of the local departments has 4 currently up for online auction. These include a 2004, 2007, 08, 09 all with approx 100k miles. Based on minimum bids, he is probably looking at the 2004 or 2007. Does anybody have any experience with these cars? Are there some years better than others performance and/or reliability wise? Any recommendations what he should look for. Also, when he was looking at some specs online, it said they had standard 3:27 and some came with 3:55 with optional traction lok. I can't imagine that the 3:27 rear cars came with one wheel peel in a police version. Can anybody confirm what the standard rear is?

Soon as I saw your thread, I went to the Blues Brothers in my mind.

I think they got a brake upgrade in 2009 if thats worth it to him. I was looking at their wheels to put snow tires on and up to 2008 the spares are 16". After 2009 they are 17". I can't imagine Ford would have changed the wheel unless they really had to.

Good stuff on the Blues Brothers. My friend at work said he plans to put " I am on a mission from god" on the front 1/4 panel with a silhouette of Jake and Elwood underneath in place of emblem.
