I have been looking into doing the same thing. I have a quote of $170 for the covers in comp orange but I was wondering how hard it was to remove the covers?

w7317 07-17-2004 03:00 AM

Removing Valve covers

Well Its not easy but not to hard on the drivers side you have to take all the bolts out of the brake cylinder and move it out of the way And on the passenger side you have to have that tool to get the fuel line off go slow and mark all the bolts you take off. The hardest part is the brake cylinder removal

1BADMACH1 07-17-2004 03:00 AM

can you send me some pics? dditty@earthlink.net I would also like to know how hard it is to remove the covers.

W7317 - dude those look awesome! :worship: I was wondering if it would be too much orange in the engine compartment but they look like they should have come from the factory. The scoop bracket looks good too. From what I understand powder coating is practically bulletproof so they should look good for many years. I have ordered a set of the GT coil covers so I may have my valve covers done at the same time. How much did you pay for the powder coating and how long did it take? Thanks for sharing the pics.

mstangfrk95gts 07-17-2004 04:55 PM

Im wanting to get em polished myself...........

w7317 07-17-2004 08:01 PM

Cost And time

It cost $210 with the coil covers and took about 4 days but the guy was busy. your best bet is to get with the Powder coater have him order the coating he is going to need your paint code for that and wait for the coating to get there and then take your covers off

does anyone have ANY idea what the powder formula is for '04 Screamin Yellow? I need to spruce up the engine compartment before car-show season.

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

awww crap...

now something else I gotta get powder coated. :)

Am working on getting the scoop done in Black Chrome with the fins sanded to bare aluminum then clear coated. Haven't decided if I will powder coat or paint yet, the guy doing the work does both.

Depending on how good that turns out, I guess i'll be doing the valve covers and coil covers next. I hate the crappy look of the stock metal in my 04.

Thanks for posting the pix!

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

I finally got mine installed and **** these are very hard to get in. A lot of work to install valve covers on these engines. Have the engine compartment is growing over it. But the good part is how much cleaner and better it looks in there. I also got to speed some time cleaning other stuff up too like all the loose wires and stuff. I wanted something differant so I painted the letters and I have to say I love the way it turned out but once again very time consuming to get it just right. anyways tell me what you guys thing and what you think about the blue wire loom.

I LOOOOOOOOVE them in white. :worship: It looks fantastic. How much did everything cost you?

Roush380R 01-03-2006 11:27 AM

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers

$65 for the powder coating and $125 labor to put them on. Well worth it in my opinion.
