Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
Tossing around the idea of getting rid of the Mach, I know, I know, why? Well I've had it for a bit and maybe thinking of getting something newer, and with a 5.0. Looking for advice as to what I should expect to get for the car.
Anyways, its a 2003 Mach 1, Azure Blue, 24k miles. Car is a 9.9/10 in both interior and exterior. Car gets shown, as well as driven. Engine: Stock Longblock 2.1L Kenne Bell @ 9psi SLP Long Tubes, Matching catted SLP X, Flowmaster weld-ins to stock catback SCT X3, dyno tuned by Fastlane Motorsports in Benson, NC 60lb Injectors 65mm BBK twin blade TB KB Cool air kit, K&N filter Drivetrain: Fidanza Billet Flywheel (replaceable friction surface) Promotion Performance Clutch (650hp rated) Steeda Tri-ax w/ Cobrabob gasket, Hurst handle and 'retro' Hurst ball FRPP Aluminum DS 4:10 gears Drilled Slotted bear rotors, ceramic pads Suspension: UPR Chromoly K and A's UPR front Coilovers (tokicos) UPR Bumpsteer UPR LCA / UCA's MM 4-bolt C/C plates Fuel: 03 Cobra tank Dual GT Supercar pumps KB Boost-a-pump Looks: New Chin spoiler (have original) Race Start Dark Star wheels (17x4 and 15x10) 185/55 M&H fronts 275/50 ET Street rears 8" antenna Redline Hood Struts Speed of Sound 2 gauge pillar pod Speedhut cumstom gauges (Wideband A/F and Boost) Probly leaving out some small stuff, but thats the main jist of it. Car makes 479rwhp on 93 pump. Not a single problem with the car. Would jump in it and drive anywhere. Extremely reliable, comfortable, and clean. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2fdcdce.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/...psfba93a21.jpg http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/...psa00c7413.jpg Cars KBB for the miles, options, and condition, bone stock is right around 15.5k Car has $10k in it in mods. I know you wont recoup, but what would you expect to pay for a car of this caliber? Also have alot of documentation from the car, window sticker, ford certificate, etc. |
Re: Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
IMO its going to take a special person to buy it. Most people dont like them modded to the gills. Plus if you ask too much for it, you re going to end up in the Cobra price range. Me personally, once you get up in the 19-20k range, I m going for the Cobra.
Not going to price your car, you have to do that. The question is do you hold out for higher price or are you a motivated seller. |
Re: Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
I get that, thanks for the input. If I was to actually put the car on the market, i would be motivated, but i aint gonna give the car away.
If i sell it, it would more than likely comprimise the bulk of my next purchase. I think, like you said, it would take a special buyer. Someone that wants a Mach, not a cobra. |

Can you keep Mach 1 and get yourself a 5.0? Personally, if I don' t need the money I would keep the Mach 1, it is one sweet ride!

My vote doesn't really count since I don't think I'm an average buyer. But say you had it listed at ~$20K and I was in the market, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The low miles and tasteful mods are a huge plus to me. Not a big fan of UPR based on stuff I've read, but I could get over that.
Something about a microwave with wifi and Tapatalk. |
Re: Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
I'd say you've probably got an uphill battle. Seems like it's hard to sell our Mach's when they've got just afew bolt-ons, much less one that's got alot of upgrades. I think if you get $16K-$17K you'll be lucky. Your $10K in modifications adds up to about $1K in the selling price and that's only because of the supercharger. If you think that's giving it away, then you might as well keep it.

Re: Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
I ran into this problem years back when selling my 93 notch. You never get back the money invested in mods. Shadowmaker had it right. The car is probably worth the same as an 03 Cobra, but most would take a Cobra over a modded Mach for the same money. Best advice is to remove mods and sell separately. I think putting Mach back to stock will get you top dollar. It's a shame you have to sell, beautiful car!!

Well I'll tell you this, if you wanna sell those front 17" Darkstars, I'll take em!

Re: Thinking of selling the Mach, what would you pay?
Thanks everyone for your input. I understand the car is in cobra territory for real worth, but wont pull cobra price, simply because its not a cobra.
I think 17k would be right around what I would want to be. And I think waiting for the right buyer, i could get it. But it would be for sale for a long time, im sure. My next vehicle will either be a 07-08 GT500, or a 11-12 5.0. It might be a little while, but just trying to get an idea of the actual price my car would pull. Either gt500 or 5.0 can be had for a tad under 30k, and i dont want to finance more than 10k. The Mach seems to be holding its value well, so we'll see. Again, thanks everyone! |
