Starting my Build

So I've been gathering parts for the past 6 months and now it's time to get things moving.

Parts I have so far:
Used Mach block with crank
Manley .020 over flat tops w/ rings
2013 Boss Rods
ARP hardware
98 Cobra Cams
A set of Ported C Heads (supposedly stage 2 livernois heads but can't confirm)

Once I get my Billet oil pump I will be sending the block to the builder.

Drool... Looks sweet! whats the final goal for the car?

SuperMach1 11-06-2013 01:44 PM

Re: Starting my Build

My goal is to have a mid or low 10 second street car.
It will be making around 450 at first. Then once I get a return style fuel system and bigger blower I will be expecting 600-650hp on E-85.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. Now I know what works

Re: Starting my Build

I cannot see most of your pics, link to google mail is what happens. The attached ones has a broken link to the thumbnail but I can click on those and view them.

I put all my pics in Google+ under photos, then make the folder than I am sharing as 'public' but just that folder. Then I open the pics, right click and select 'copy image address' then I past this into the 'insert image' button/box.

Re: Starting my Build

A word of advise :wall:...If you don't want to see the same damage to youre current crank again...Throw that MMR oil pump in the trash ,get a real pump get a melling pump.

littlemags 11-27-2013 03:39 PM

Re: Starting my Build

you mean you have had a MMR pump fail on you....lol..:3:

rich1 11-27-2013 04:12 PM

Re: Starting my Build

Sort of..I went to install the MMR pump I got in a 2 for one deal. I decided to just check inside the pump to make sure it was clean. When I removed the cover a small sliver of metal was caught in gear and the housing. I called MMR and wanted them to replace it ,they said no , since I had opened it up! I called Melling , ordered a pump and threw the MMR in the round file !

SuperMach1 11-30-2013 05:03 PM

Re: Starting my Build

Thanks for your input. Was the pump new when you opened it up? I've been doing some research and I've noticed people have had problems with both MMR and the melling pump. Seems like the TSS oil pump has had the best reviews.

Re: Starting my Build

Tomorrow im sending the valve covers to get powder coated azure blue. I was going to do the timing cover also but now I want to hyrdo dip it carbon fiber. not to sure yet.

SuperMach1 12-06-2013 05:27 PM

Re: Starting my Build

Well the azure blue the shop had didn't really match my car. The azure they had looked more like a grabber blue to me. I hope the color I picked matches up pretty good. My timing cover and my "Powered By Ford“ cop covers will be getting hydro dipped carbon fiber. My valve cover inserts will be getting dipped in carbon fiber too.

You could paint the covers to match your car...it will hold up fine. I did mine in DSG and turned out perfect.

SuperMach1 12-08-2013 10:05 PM

Re: Starting my Build

It's a little to late for that now :wall:. I think it will come out fine. The valve covers should be ready by Friday.

SuperMach1 12-10-2013 03:37 PM

Re: Starting my Build

Just dropped off the heads to the builder. We ended up going with 1mm oversize REV Intake valves and a 4 angle valve job. He said the ports on the heads were pretty good so no extra porting was needed.

SuperMach1 12-11-2013 03:34 AM

Re: Starting my Build

Once the builder is done with the heads everything else will be on its way out my house.

Re: Starting my Build

Since they have your heads. Not sure if you already have them or not but look into a better valve spring since your planning on running that much boost.

SuperMach1 12-13-2013 01:40 AM

Re: Starting my Build

Good idea, i'll look into it. Supposedly the heads are stage 2 Livernois if thats true it should have Livernois single coil valve springs. Did you upgrade your springs? If so which did you go with?

Mach828 12-13-2013 09:28 AM

I'd pay to have the heads looked at. A friend of mine trusted a used set of heads that ended up costing him a motor and eventually had to sell his car because of the added expense.

Sent with a shot of DROID go fast

the heads are at the shop right now getting freshened up. when I showed him the heads I asked if he thought they're Livernois and he said there's a Good chance they could be. He really liked the ports and since they were used we went ahead and ordered oversize SS valves, did a 4 angle valve job, and new seals.

I bought both for about $220. Seems like a 2 for 1 kind of deal
