Mach ! Resurrection

5 Attachment(s)
So I recently purchased a Mach 1 roller with approx. 42xxx klms on the car, the car was with the previous owner since 2005....A turn of bad luck with a local speed shop left the car less a complete drive train....luckily the body and specific Mach stuff was all there....moving forward I have a complete drive train and suspension for the car...........so lets resurrect this bad boy!

I will update with pics as we go along...... need to upload them..lol

First I started by cleaning out the engine bay of the dirt as it sat for almost two years...... before this the car was garage kept and as you can see it amazing condition!

So if any you have done the auto swap you"ll know that the floor is slightly different from the auto version, here's the additional trans tunnel that Ford installs as its need for the standard trans as it sits higher up.....drill the spot welds out and clean away the seem sealer and she come out, clean up the tunnel around the opening and used self edging primer to seal it up, gotta get the template made up for the auto and gonna weld her back in and paint Azura blue once in....here's what she looks like so far.

well started the temp plate for the floor for the auto shifter, I used a stainless steel plate and decided on using speed clip to secure it down, once the final shape was a nice tight over lay I used a paper temp plate from auto car to locate the hole for the auto shifter, test fit it first with the console and its a perfect match, remove the shift and seem sealed it, then placed the plate down and bolted in place, what ya see is the finished product.
only took me 4 hrs...lol

Well another productive evening, installed the auto pedal, and shifter cable to the steering column, not as bad as I thought pretty easy just hard getting under the dash....lol, check and shifter works like OEM... d/s, hydra boost and all brakes lines attached and bleed, next up will be the front rad, condenser, trans cooler and killer chiller...... ILL update more pics as I go along.....

well waiting for the power distribution harness I purchased to arrive to complete the electrical, I decided to tackle the auto portion of the build, since I have a manual pcm harness I needed to intergrade the auto wires into the harness and into its pin locations into the factory connector at the pcm, I have a auto pcm just in case your wondering

Attachment 67217

here's a pic of the Mid pipe I made for this set up a few years back as The haeders I'm running are mid length and required a custom one, believe it or not that mid pipe is two Dodge ram tail pipes modified...lol
Attachment 67218

Finally the car is off the hoist and I can finish off the wiring on ground level as all the underneath is complete.
those wheels are temporary as I have a set of 18X9 Mach wheels coming for it, think I might just have the rear widened to 10.5 from weld craft, just wanna see the turn around time..

Here a quick back shot....

Custom midpipe looks good. I've always wondered that about certain manufacturers out there that sell 'mid length' headers. Always wondered if you had to buy the midpipe that THEY sell for it to work.

So I had purchased a Auto Mach CCRM Harness which ended up being a GT one, today I got the right one, thank god...
I decided since Im waiting for the harness I put the interior back in......
I will update the harness pics, for now the new CCRM auto harness is in along with the engine auto harness and auto mach PCM..., since im running a 03 cobra distribution harness I have to move some wires around in the connectors, mainly the blue with orange tracer needs to get to the CCRM..
The Front seat is still out as I have new seat foam for the seat to install.
Also mocked up the PNR tank in the trunk, that's all wired and ready to go.

Re: Mach ! Resurrection

well getting one step closer: needed to modify the distribution harness at the connectors on the passenger side that connect to the CCRM harness, since I used a Cobra distribution harness the power supply for the CCRM to FPDM( blue with orange tracer) is not in the 16 pin grey connector but is in the large round 4 pin connector on a cobra, Gt and Mach only use 3 of the 4, easy enough just added it, checked when done and we have fuel prime!

Attachment 67291
Next was to check for crank, since this was a stick car and now and auto needed to verify all is good, went to crank and had nothing, closer look and the safety switch was in the clutch switch, but auto doesn't look at that, it looks at trans range selector, also the manual ccrm harness at the grey connector has a loop from white/pink and blur with red, on an auto these are not looped, but are suppose to under the dash on the drivers side left, is a harness that runs up and you will see the same colour wires with a open connector if it's stick, but auto has the wires looped, here's what the connectors needs to look like .

Attachment 67290

Now that I have prime and crank, car is ready to fire up, just need to finsh off the harness connection to the circ pump and i'm going to run that to the cobra relay on the passenger fire wall via the grey connector and make it look all factory....more pics when that done....

Ok
More progress, so you can see that the relay's are different from Cobra to Mach, from the original connector I removed the pins out of the factory two plug and lucky me I had other harness that would match up to the cobra relay harness, pins for the fan plugged in factory like.
Attachment 67297
Attachment 67301
The fan power wires are the same colour code, now for the circ pump, it has 4 wires, white from the power distribution via the sliver connector, I drilled and added the wire to the other side of the terminal block and routed though the loom to the relay which power supply, Orange with yellow tracer is power to the circ pump, red is 12 volt ignition power which I tapped into the 12 V that supplies the maf, white with red tracer is suppose to go to the PCM pin 83 as the cobra computer monitors it, by way of grounding it no need to hook up as the mach would know as its not programmed for it. I just wired it into the harness on a ground circuit and when ignition is turn on the pump will run, gonna make a toggle switch so when at the track I can jump it in the pits.
Attachment 67298
The IAT is also not used in the Maf location so I used the Cobra Map/IAT2 sensor located in the manifold and made up my own wiring harness using ford connectors and even used the exact colour codes grey/ red and grey wiring, many may ask why, well when adding in a PD blower timing is controlled by IAT and if it see the incoming air which is a lot cooler it can add to much, this way it only see it after the cooler in the manifold which is the one you want.
Attachment 67299
here is it all cleaned up.

well little further along...got the inlet all mounted and even relocated the maf in the fender area, coolant tank on.
Attachment 67308
Attachment 67309
Attachment 67310
Only thing I don't like is the IAC hose, gonna try and make that look neater and have it go around the other way and under the TB..
also gonna hook up the stock reservoir bottle for the inner cooler temporarily, car has to go to the Body shop for the front and rear bumpers to be painted, also needs alignment, once that's done I can put it up on the hoist and run the coolant hoses under the car to the rear PNR tank in the trunk.
with all the wiring in play I started to mount the panels back on, this is far as I got, family function stopped any further assembly...lol

Re: Mach ! Resurrection

Its alive...…

Had to get a start up base file from my buddy Lidio and upload it into the X cal 3 with the Pats turned off for now as I only received one key for the car, plus the PCM isn't the original as I switch the car to Auto, I will get another key and program them to the car later with the IDS.

Started up first crank....Who Hoo... ran pretty good for a start up file, this will get me going for now...next steps.. attach the front clip and get it to the alignment shop and then to the body shop for the bumpers to be painted.

I tried to upload the video but it wouldn't take......sorry guys

one more issue to deal with, when I came into the garage the cluster had dash lines where the OD was and the ABS and Service engine light was on...Hmm after a little investigating found the abs module was back feeding and causing the issue, has a spare ABS module and just quickly plugged her in and verify all was good, I will switch out the unit and bleed the brakes which should only take a couple of hours.

I'll update with more pics from the alignment and body shop....

Well little more progress... engine bay wiring and ABS module all done...

both fenders are on.... went to adjust the hood striker to align... ran into a slight snag.. the shaker liner rests on the crusher inlet not allowing the hood to close all the way.....:Flame:
options are to remove and just mount the shaker to the underside of the hood as many have done.....:notsure:
Nah I like things the hard way.....lol
gonna drop the K-member down as much as 1/2 inch if need be to clear and allow hood closure...also this will help with the shaker mounting too....

looks like a damned sewer pipe in there feeding that blower!

Is it hard to get the elbow off the blower to get to the spark plugs?

Sewer pipe.....lol it's 5 inch inside diameter, nah it's pretty easy just loosen the hose to the pipe and slide it down and the plastic one to the TB comes off..really like 2 min and you can access the plugs with a extension and flex...looks harder than it is.

Well I installed the lights and slid in the bumper and attached loosely and didn't brother to attach the chip spoiler as the bumpers are coming off for paint anyways....looks so much better with the clip on...lol. ran into a snag...went to get gas and found I only had first gear..:anger: came back with 3 codes...gear selector range out and speed sensor....
well fixed the gear selector one as I had a spare new one and adjusted it... :24:but the speedo is inop...ran out of time to look at it as family life takes over.... should have time in the next couple days..... I will update with my findings and pics when at the Body shop...

Looks good. Glad everything fit behind the bumper without modification. Really amazing what the chin spoiler does for the front end too. Hope your prob is just connections or something simple.

Well after several hours of diagnosis..... all the wring checks out, even ran a scanner on and determined the speed sensor is actually working but way off, in second gear at 4500 RPM the speedo reads maybe 15 MPH...this all lead back to the tune file.... SCT actually confirmed it...just waiting for a new start up file and go from there...

I think the wife is getting a little jealous and I'm spending more time in the garage....lol

Great to watch the build. Car is coming along real nice. As others have said please keep posting. Between us seeing the build and you being able to refer back on what you've done its pretty cool.
I started a Face Book group for friends and family for a car my sons & I were building for Drag Week this year. It was so the family could see what we were doing, also so we could look back and reference the posts to see our progress.
