If you want to see some real racing go watch the American LeMans series, Austrailian V8 touring car series, British Touring car series, Continental series, etc etc.

Best drivers in the world are still WRC drivers IMO. Those guys have some BALLS.

I agree. I was a huge nascar fan until about 10 years ago. I still watch sometimes but only if I have nothin to do. Just aint the same.Don't forget to go to your local tracks. Its great racing. They still race for the fun of it, like it should be.

Ford is killing the Falson in another year or two, I think Holden is killing the Commodore as well. That's probably why Audi and Benz are getting in this year.

Congrats to Carl on a great win, and anther chance to 'flip out'. Hope it's the beginning of many more this season.

Good win for Ford. That move by Denny Hamlin was wild. Their was another stripe before the actual finish line so I thought Hamlin eeked out 2nd Place.

Finally us Carl fans can cheer again haha. I knew he'd win soon, he seemed VERY p*ssed at Daytona lol.

Didn't he wreck like 5 cars that week?

Tough race at Bristol, but Brad ends up in the points lead.

Interesting fly over, described on Jayski as '4 unidentified planes'.

Glad that traitor Matt Kenseth had a bad day, I had to switch drivers and now have a closet full worthless crap, same thing happened when Rusty went to Dodge. I stay with Ford and now pull for Ambrose, not buying anymore driver stuff, all Ford Racing from now on.

That does seem to be the trend in all of the races so far this year. I think 1/3 full would be abotu right.

:31: That's what happened to me when Dale Jarrett went to Toyota, but I never got into buying all the diecast cars and stuff. It's just such a money pit when they make about 10 different diecasts for your driver. I had Jarrett's Quality Is Job 1 diecast and his UPS diecast and then a wallclock I got for free from my brother-in-law. It's #660 of 5,000. I threw away the diecasts.

I like Trevor Bayne, even though he has'nt done much since Daytona. Once he goes to Chevy or Yoda, I'll dump him.

Re: NASCAR thread

I like a driver for the driver, not what brand of car he races. Besides, unless they are a owner driver, the driver doesn't get to pick what brand of car he/she drives. It's the team owners decision, not the drivers. I still like Matt Kenseth even though he drives a Toyota becauase I like him as a DRIVER.

As usual, Cali was a snoozer. Glad I woke up with 10 laps left to see the finish. You expect to see Hamlin and Logano duke it out and it ends up being Stewart and Logano. That was funny.

falcongtho3 03-24-2013 07:38 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

No lie. Caught the end laps and thought that was good. Should really ramp up the fight between those two (Logano and Hamiln). Tonys post race comments were 'interesting' to say the least.

Re: NASCAR thread

I went to the Nascar website to see what Stewart had to say. Hilarious. That's always the way it is with blocking. No one likes it, but everyone does it. Especially for the possible win. Checkers or wreckers baby!

falcongtho3 03-24-2013 09:34 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

He just needs to come out and say it; "I'm Tony Stewart and you are not worthy of blocking me, no one is!" It seems to pretty much be his attitude.

Big Ron 03-24-2013 09:39 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

The #18 "smoked" all their @sses. Did the same on Saturday also! :hail1:

If Logano had stayed on the bottom with Hamlin like he did with Stewart he could have quite possibly won. It ain't really "blocking" when you crowd him out of racetrack on top.

:borg:

It is interesting that it is ok for Tony to throw a block at Daytona causing multiple cars to wreck ( I think two recent races at Daytona, IIRC), but it is not ok for anyone else to throw a block on Tony, and not cause a wreck. Heck, he would have finished bad anyway, that block technically only set him back a couple of spots, not 22. Something else was wrong. The 'double standard' that Tony spoke about completely applies to him, which when I heard it I was :23:.

I knew when those two, 22/11 was racing for the win that if 22 could not win it, there was no way he was going to let Hamlin have it. Nascar will get every bit of media from these two, they need them to create a media stir.

I watch every race but I could care less about the 11 or the 22.

I don't hate Kyle at all. I just don't root for him because he's not with Ford. He's always a threat to win, and he makes moves that no one else will. I like his gutsy moves. No one else better at re-starts.

Re: NASCAR thread

Kyle hasn't been in a wreck where he has gotten hurt yet. Once that happens he will be more cautious and not take those on the edge daring moves. There comes a time when the will to live kicks in.

Thunderbolt 03-26-2013 04:33 PM

Maybe in 10 years he'll mellow out, but I don't see it happening anytime soon, especially when he does'nt have a Championship yet.

I don't like or dislike Kyle but you have to give the guy credit, he can drive a racecar pretty d@mn good. He got lucky winning this race though. It would have gone to Hamlin or Lagano if they didn't wreck.

Every time someone wins, there's a measurable amount of luck involved. The guy led almost every lap, put himself in the position to win and he did.

Fwiw-go back and watch the replay if you have it DVR'd. Wreck or not, the 22 and 11 had both killed their momentum and the 18 was going to pull past them on the high side.

I did watch it over a few times and I still don't think he would have passed both of them. There is no question that he dominated the race but they were pulling away from Kyle until they decided to act stupid next to each other. If they would have raced each other instead of trying to pi$$ each other off, one of them woud have one.

Anyone else into race used memorabilia? I just picked up a fender from the 29 car that was used in the Sprint Unlimited, Duel 1, and crashed in the Daytona 500. Seems like this could be an addicting hobby.

I don't have any race used memorabilia but I have well over 100 1:24 scale NASCAR diecast cars and over 200 1:64 scale NASCAR cars. Most of my stuff is from the #2 Miller Lite car when it was driven by Rusty Wallace.

WalkrTexasRngr 03-28-2013 04:57 PM

Wow, that's a lot of cars. I have maybe 10 1:24 harvick cars. Do you display them? I'm probably gonna hang the fender on the wall in the house somewhere. Thank god my wife thinks its cool too. I'm gonna have to build a garage soon so I have somewhere to hang this stuff.

I did have them on display but I moved to a different house. I need to build shelves in the basement so I can display them again. I have alot of Mustang diecast cars too.

Got it in the mail the other day. Gonna hang it in our office for now. It's an awesome piece to physically hold and look over. I have it laying on the top of my pellet stove to gauge the size. It's a pretty big piece. It even has part of the carbon fiber nose cone attached.

I hear so much about those. If that is your 6th one, I guess they are as good as they say they are.

Truex was doomed whether that caution came out or not. Busch was catching him anyway. Then you go up against Busch on a re-start and forget it. You've already lost the race before the checkered flag flies.

Was that the NRA 500, as in National Rifle Association 500?

Larry Warcup 04-14-2013 12:19 AM

Re: NASCAR thread

Yup, that NRA!

Good to see Kyle get that one...he deserved it! And you're correct, Truex was doomed before the yellow - the yellow just secured the race for Rowdy

Kyle was killer on the restarts. He was leaving Gordon behind like nobodys business. It was at least good to see some of the Ford push towards the front for some respectable finishes, but they we never really a threat. What gives?

Re: NASCAR thread

That's just so ironic that it happened at the NRA 500. When you camp in the infield, your vehicle, camper or RV is'nt searched at all. You just hand the guy your infield tickets and they wave you through. I've never seen any kind of violence or known anyone that ever got ripped off when they've camped at a Nascar race. It's just a huge party and everyone seems to get along.
