He might have been given a choice...He could do it himself, or they would do it for him...

They are announcing this morning that there will be a second round of recalls, and this time they are using the words 'diecast cars'. Put that with the word 'Mattel' and you get 'Hot Wheels'. This is not going to be very pretty...

All my parents could afford was a pack of cards and clothes pins for my bike. I would put so many on the wheel would hardly move but it sounded cool. I just dreamed of the Varooom motor.

Re: Die -cast cars

I was on Ebay last night and looking at 1:18 and 1:24 scale Mustang diecasts and noticed prices are dramatically lower than they were maybe 6 months ago. Specifically I looked up the AutoArt Mach1s and they are now going for $37 when not that long ago you couldn't find one for under $59! Are diecasts "jumping the shark" or is this just a fluke? I'm not complaining but I've witnessed the downturn with my Team Caliber Owner's NASCAR diecasts last year and was shocked to see the Lane, GMP, AA, and Ertl cars aren't commanding the same money they once were.

I collect die cast and Lionel Trains. Look at the stock market. Collectables hit the skids just before the stock market. You try to make your house payment first is the rule when things go down.:(

Point well taken but I'm not so sure this isn't a growing trend. Most of the Buy-it-Now auctions are valued lower than they used to be and you wouldn't expect those types of sellers to discount so quickly. Missus BP and I collect Department 56 houses and their prices are remaining steady right now and some are actually higher than normal. Again, I'm not complaining as I like to buy instead of sell diecasts but I wonder if the hobby is now becoming stagnant or decreasing in popularity.

Even if they do drop in value, It doesn't bother me cause I don't plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon. :)

Nice looking batmobile!

Re: Die -cast cars

Thanks, it's from a production run of 8,000 pieces and has great detail, especially in comparison to the regular retail Batmobile. I'll have some pics of the 1:18 car probably tomorrow to post, which will also have some 1:64 variants as well.

These sre some shots of the 1:18 Batmobile done up in 'Bat-Fuzz'. It, to, was a SDCC exclusive and production was limited to 525 units. As you can see by the passenger side shot, it does not have the bat-logo and it so far the only one to be found to be so produced. The shot of the smaller Batmobiles include the regular production car, a Japanese short car, a long European card, and a regular short card. They are also Target two-packs that included the car as well as various 10-packs.

Went nuts and bought some Lane 1:18 Shelbys on Ebay this week. All of them sold for less than $40 and they were commanding $100+ last year. Sold a few last summer to finance a house project and it looks like I can now buy them back for 1/3rd of what I sold them for! :D

Re: Die -cast cars

I have waayyyy too many diecasts....lol. I would guess I have over 150 pieces counting all the different sizes. Most of my collection is Buick related, but also have a few Thunderbolt pieces, plus recently picked up the 1:18 scale 1986 SVO Mustangs by Welly....all three colors that were made. The larger Buick stuff is mainly GMP and still in the boxes. Rest are odds/ends that I have found over the past few years.

I'm just waiting to buy a house so I can take mine out of storage. I don't have the room right now. :( I do have some on display now but about 3/4 of them are in a basement about 40 miles away from where I live.

Re: Die -cast cars

Well, I went to buy a plastic model to put together but instead, I ended up spending $30 on a 1:18 DSG '03 Cobra instead. I already have a red one just like it. Those people that have the DSG Mach from Auto Art, you probably noticed that the color isn't an exact match to the real car. The Cobra I picked up is made by Maistro. They have almost a perfect match on their DSG paint. Much closer then the Auto art one. Now only if Maistro would make the Mach 1. :eyebrows:

I'm seriously thinking about making this my next purchase...

I've already got one by a different company from Australia, but I have a feeling that this one being from Auto Art would be of better quality.
