I explained how it had to be done. We have to contact Dave and give him our registration numbers. When he has 25 then he can contact MCA parking or Steve Pruiett and a place will be reserved for those 25 cars together. If more numbers are given then we will have a bigger spot. Dave you have my 2 numbers, does he have yours yet?

I have to say that I am amazed by what seems to be a problem. Maybe I'm all wrong about it or maybe I'm missing something here. Why is it that it's so difficult to get a list of those that are going on the Thursday night cruise? If it was any other cruise there would be a list on this thread. How many are registered with Dave? Will we have enough?

I'm going on the Thurs cruise, but because I'm in the judged section, I didnt send Dave my number because the need for 25 is for the entire show parking

Sorry Hammer I didn't understand your previous post ...I got it now, my bad. Yes, if you are in Judged you aren't part of the 25 needed for "Group Parking" I guess there are two issues. One is the group parking at the show and the other is group cruise and parking for the Thursday night cruise.

Actually I think I misunderstood your post...
I guess.....we all need to meet up and get to the cruise starting point together so we can all park together on Thurs night.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary - OFFICIAL THREAD - 4/16-4/19/09

Driving directions for the Thursday night cruise to Homewood Al.

The cruise will leave at 6:30 pm on the dot, make sure you are in line and ready to go at that time. The Alabama Highway Patrol will be createing rolling road blocks at certain times and we have to be at those points at those times. Side note, in the past couple of National Events that have had cruises like this, the convoy has gotten split up and in some cases had to run red lights and other traffic control devices to keep up with the convoy. In some cases the cruise had no police escort detail at all. This cruise will be escorted the entire way and no one should be left behind or lost in the cruise. Enough of that, on to the directions.

Important note - Only vehicles with cruise passes will be allowed into the Homewood parking area and into the cruise line. If you don't have a pass you can follow the cruise but when you get to Homewood you will have to find parking for yourself.

Again, now to the directions:
We will exit Barbers Motorsports Park and turn left on Rex Lake Rd and proceed to U.S. Highway 78. At this intersection we will again make a left turn, you will need to get to the right lane as soon as possible. As we pass under the overpass we will enter I-20 West. The escorts will move the line of cars to the center lane of I-20, please remain behind the escorts during the cruise. The cruise will follow this Expressway until we arrive at the junction of I-59 at such time we will join I-59 headed south. The cruise will continue until Exit 126 which is U.S. Hwy 31/280 at which time we will exit. Please take notice that you will need to be in the right lane as soon as you pass the 31st Street Exit, if there is a bottle neck, it will be here just make sure you are in the right lane. As we get off I-59/20 onto U.S. 31 the ramp will veer off to the left and then flow into a flyover bridge. We will continue on U.S. 31 until we get to the Rosedale off ramp. We will exit the ramp and at such time try to form up into 2 lanes. At the intersection of Rosedale and 18th Street we will turn left and proceed to 28th Ave South and make a right turn. If you are in the left lane you will stop briefly and be held in place. The cars to your right will be making the block, do not worry about this. As a matter of fact we would like for all Mach 1s to be in the left lane so we can park together on 18th Street. Back to the route directions. The main line will be in the right lane and make the right at 28th Ave South and then turn left onto Linden Ave. It will proceed all the way to Oxmoor and then turn left onto Oxmoor and go one block and turn left again onto 18th Street again. The escort will then lead us down 18th street until we reach 28th Ave again and begin parking. Thus creating a circle of the entire block and parking will begin. We have done this so the convoy can continue moving as long as possible. When the first cars are parked in the first block of 18th Street then the cars that have stopped in the left lane will be released to begin to park. This line will park on the left side of the street and back into their parking spots. If everything goes as planned, the Mach 1 Registry will be parked together on 18th Street next to the SSP Mustang Police Cars that will lead the convoy. I know it sounds confuseing but just watch the parkng marshalls and they will direct you to where you need to go.

I hope this helps out and you will get an idea of what we are going to try and do.

The key for the Mach 1s to park together is to be in line FIRST behind the SSP cars at Barbers. We will line the cruise cars up at Barbers in 2 lines. It is my guess and plan that the SSP cars and Mach 1s need to be in the left lane at Barbers to leave first. I will post more as the time approaches.

First let me welcome you to the great state of Alabama for your visit. I was drafted into this crusie director thing and it has got quite large.

As a insider for the Mach 1s I am going to try and help us get the premier spots for the cruise. I have posted the directions in a thread this morning and you can compare the directions with a map or either view it on any of the many web map locations. The jist of this is to line up all the Mach 1s as early as possible at the entrance at Barbers. The program says line up is at either 6 or 630, that is wrong. We will leave at 6:30 on the dot. The program was printed before I could give any say so about the cruise. If I were you I would plan on trying to make your way to the entrance at 5 or 5:15. You will have an hour wait for things to form up but you will be at the front of the line. Also we will be forming 2 lines on the road, make sure you park directly behind the SSP cars. Please keep this info among the Mach 1 folks or we will have a roit of folks trying to line up first at 5 pm. Hope this info helps and that you enjoy your visit to B'ham. If I can assit with any other need please feel free to contact me via PM or 205 478-9491.

Regards

If you are just now getting your registration confirmation numbers in the mail. You are probably going to see a number of around 13xx or even 14xx or higher. Does this look closer to the number that you have?

Boycott Alabama!!! Sorry as a union member will not go. Until Sen. Shelby is voted out of office. If this man had his way we would not have Ford, Mustangs or the big 3

My registration # is the 4th line of the 45th Anniv. letter I have. The next line says I am "registered to be Display Only"

I didn't get any passes and no confirmation of being in the Thurs. night cruise even though i signed up for it. I had emailed redhorse a while back and he said I am in the cruise but I registered before they had all the passes and tickets printed. I will get that info in my registration packet I have to pick up at the credentials building when I arrive.

Hope to see you there!

Actually I got the letter Jan 3. And there is not a number anywhere. I had better call them.
Do you have any info on the cruise pass?

I found my registration number it is 1054 and it was on a letter I received in the mail not the email conformation I was looking at. Looks like I am out of luck on the cruise pass. I don't remember getting one when I registered back in December and according to the MCA website they are sold out.

Redhorse thanks for all the work!

That is your choice my friend. But I passed about 100 cars on my way to the coast today that had northern plates.

Your choice, your loss. This will be a great event and nothing to do with politics.

Redhorse, you ROCK! Thanks for all you've done. I know you and your club have put on great shows in the past and this one will be no less.
Are the passes for the cruise going to be included in the registration packet? There was nothing about it in my letter.

But yet it's funny......FORD(one of the BIG 3) is sponsoring this huge event in where????....none other than ALABAMA!!

As falcon said.....this event has nothing to do with politics and will only support the brand. You act like your supporting the big 3 by trying to boycott. But by you not participating, your doing the direct opposite.....your not supporting Ford or the Mustang brand.

For those who did not go to the MCA 30th, listen up!

There is an Official Souvenir Program in the newest issue of Mustang Monthly for the Mustang 45th show. They did the same thing for the MCA 30th, and you will most likely get a copy of it in your packet when you pick it up at the track. I'd suggest going on ahead and picking up a copy of this ahead of time (I think it is included in another Mustang magazine as well, I just happened to like the rest of the content in the MM). In addition to a schedule of events there are photos from the 30th, but more importantly maps of the area, a layout of the parking for participants, trailers, etc.
Check it out...and then buy it!
