Pretty good race weekend. I really enjoyed the Modified race, those cars will always be my favorite.

Mark extended his lead so I can't complain about the cup results. I didn't get to see the whole race but I will later tonight. :smokin:

"Next year there will be more Fords in the Chase." Go to Hooter's more often and Frank'll become perfectly understandable! :33:

BTW, he's referring to the new Ford motors approved for next year.

falcongtho3 09-20-2009 09:10 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

He's also refering to the Petty/Yates merger that will bring Casey Kahne and his co-drivers to the Ford tent.

A back up plan would be a one time points award of 500 pts for any driver that's not in the chase that has a last name that starts with an "E". :smack:

I'm expecting them to expand it to 12 cars plus a "fan vote" car, vote online or text to put and extra car in the chase. Or maybe a "lucky dog" chase spot. If you manipulate the results of a race that way, why not the chase? That would guarantee them what they are really after.

Great idea, I can't believe they have not done it. It works real well when they count the votes.

Wel, if they do that, over-rated Dale Jr. will be in the chase every year. Even if he's 30th in points at that time.

falcongtho3 09-22-2009 06:34 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

I think the move from the original 10 to 12 cars was Earnhardt driven. He ended up out of the chase, 12th in points. So what does NASCAR do? Yep. Now that Kyle ended up in 13th, wonder what we'll see next year?

Same here.... If you asked if Ford will have more in the Chase, no one knows 'till they get to the Chase. If you asked if there will be more Fords in the Sprint Cup, I would think so. Since Petty is moving in with Yates Racing.

gvervoren 09-23-2009 06:06 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

Which I think is a smart move on Petty's part.

Re: NASCAR thread

Am I wrong is getting a lot of pleasure in seeing Kyle get passed in th elast three laps of a race? Even though it was his team mate and another Toyota, it sure was nice to see.

Re: NASCAR thread

Good run by Tony, and a great showing by Greg. I'd like to say that MArk has a lock on this thign, but the points are so close right now no one is a lock on the Championship.

This thing is far from over and I won't be confident that Mark will win until he has a 230 point lead with one race to go!!!

Even then a NASCAR penalty can turn the tide. AGAIN :23:

I'll be real curios to see how Matt and Regan fare in the race today, with noth running the new FR9 engine. Everyone is also running a new, smaller restrictor plate. Go Ford!

I sincerely enjoyed almost everything after the third lap (I did not enjoy seeing Carl get taken out (stupid Juan Problem Montoya) and I can't wait until the new #48 diecast comes out with todays paint scheme. A couple of more races like that and I may just get excited about NASCAR again.

Me too. :anger: :eyes:

Unfortunately Mr. Milquetoast is the reason the sport has become so stale. The most exciting thing he's done in the last 4 years was to fall off the top of a golf cart!

she wont even be on the lead lap to trade paint with kyle, let alone at the FRONT. he'll just keep cruisin around her, lap after lap after lap.

I completely forgot the Bud Shootout was tonight. I caught it with 40 laps left. I knew that restart with 2 laps left was gonna be a wreck for sure. Everyone was bump drafting the hell out of each other. If it would'nt have been Gordon wrecking someone it would have been someone else. One thing I noticed tonight is these cars can race on their own. You don't necessarily need a train to pass anymore. Superbowl tomorrow and the Daytona 500 next week. Two top notch events.
