I can't believe it, but NASCAR is actually paying some attention to what's going on here:
http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/head...nge/index.html

They'd really better watch out if the upcoming COT for the Nationwide series turns out to be from the musclecar crop as has been reported. Then you'll really see a migration of fans from Cup to the Nationwide series IMHO.

Joe Gibbs, the Waltrips and their band of economic terrorists
should be tried for Treason in an open air court in Michgan.
That way, they can spend all their cubic dollars Toiletta gave them
to help put AMERICAN people there out of work and lose their homes
on greedy lawyers who are here illegally.
Jack Roush was right, as I asserted earlier.
Screw ASSCAR.

I got two tickets for the brickyard in the tower terrace not too far from start finish. 90 buck tickets for 45 each if anyone wants them

Re: NASCAR thread

I like the ESPN coverage already. No more Kyle Petty, and an actual champion is in the booth, Dale Jarrett.

ylopony 07-27-2008 03:35 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

I also like it without Petty in the booth. Jarrett is a huge improvement. Unfortunately ESPN can't do anything about a lousy race. REal pathetic watching cars afraid to open it up because of the tire situation. These competition yellows because of tires and cars bringing out yellows between those competition yellows due to blown tires. Tough brake for Kenseth. This is not racing.

I think the pace car will win.
It has led the most laps after all!

I sure miss Benny Parsons. :wings:

I wish he could come back to us, "like he was shot out of a canyon". WOW!!! :23:

He was great. I liked Ned Jarrett too. :worship:

NASCAR has to know this race sux.

They need to go back to a Darlington or Rockingham. I just don't recall that many good shows for stock cars at Indy.

This competition yellow every 15 laps really blows. They showed one long camera shot of the grandstands. Their were thousands of empty seats.

Amen to that.

I'm sure he is looking down in disgust at this pathetic crap that Nascar is giving us today. I'm so glad that I did not go to this race and decided to go to Michigan instead in a few weeks.

Re: NASCAR thread

A nice ending to one of the most boring races I have ever witnessed. A win for the #48 and a top 5 for the #24. And I'm happy with the second place finish with my favorite driver in the Roush camp, Carl Edwards.

Oh and how can we forget. No top five for Dumbo. :ORANGE:

First the F1 tire debacle, now this bit of fun. You'd think after this many years, the Brickyard people (and Goodyear and NASCAR) could bet this right. None of the drivers had fun, I douby the fans there did, either. Wonder if NASCAR will offer refunds or free tickets to next years event???

Your not kidding. That was a freaking joke. If I were Allstate(sponsor) and the fans I'd want some kind of compensation for that. And to think I almost kept my tickets for this race. I only hope who I gave them too, don't get to pissed at me. If it weren't for going to Walt Disney this upcomimg weekend I'd have been at the Brickyard. I usually go there each year.

It is time have a tire company come back to NASCAR like BF or Firestone,

Re: NASCAR thread

I agree. Let the other makes try it out. Otherwise, Goodyear needs to get there act together. They couldn't tell this problem was going to happen when they practiced? 10 Laps at a time is rediculous.

birdman941 07-29-2008 07:26 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

Going more than 25 miles on a set of tires?
Priceless........................

gvervoren 07-29-2008 09:28 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

Yea especially seeing how each tire cost $425!!!!! If I were a team owner, I would want some of my money back for those tires.

If Goodyear was smart they would have bought back all of the tires. They would sell for a bunch to collectors. :23:

Re: NASCAR thread

They'll probably end up on eBay!

I think starting tomorrow I'll try to sell my customers tires for $425/ea. and tell them they're guaranteed for 25 miles, but they're NASCAR spec...we'll see what kind of response I get.

Re: NASCAR thread

Reading everythign I can on the 'race' (hey, you gotta call it something), it sounds like NASCAR has the worst spin doctors on the planet. I think they'll end up with the 'It's racing' answer as to what happened.

All the drivers should take the pace lap and park those suckers in the pits this weekend.

This week should be more fun to watch.

Yeah, the JJ-lover at work (and I'm serious, this guy is really ate up with JJ-itis) made the comment that JJ'd be winning from the pole again. (Insert another nasty pole-related commment here)
I told him; "No way, this race isn't 10 laps long".

How about that Marcos Ambrose?
Right now running 3rd with a few laps to go.
He is a 2 time champion of the Aussie Supercar series.
Turned down a prestigious GM (Holden) ride to drive a Ford there.
Sort of the Aussie version of Bill Elliott.

birdman941 08-17-2008 05:54 PM

Joe Gibbs racing caught cheating

Joe " I hate America and race Toilettas" Gibbs Racing
was caught blatantly cheating in the Nationwide series.
http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar...ory?id=3539659
You KNEW they were and they finally got caught.
I want to hear Jack Roush's reaction.
Edit, as of right now, there is NOT ONE WORD about it on the NASCAR website.
