Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
Also guys...
anyone send in the covers that were on their car? wonder if there is to much oil\dirt on them to be coated... |
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
It can be done to the stock valve covers. The biggest hassle would be your car would be out of commission while they powdercoat them. Other than that, their are shops that do it.

Yeah, I suppose. I've forgotten my midwest upbringing in just 3 years. I can drive my Mach anytime of the year here. :)

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
I like the blue ones, and they look close enough to the the Azure color without having to take them down and getting them powder coated. I like the comp orange ones a lot. If I do it, I will just buy the blue ones and have them installed and use the old ones off of my 03 and get those powder coated orange for the wife.

as for "floaters"', you guys should be able to find a set fairly easily. check out post #5 here http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=863520 . i sent the pm so i'll let you know if that set pans out for you guys to grab up. |
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
I don't know what a pair is worth, but if each person signed up for the same amount the first person paid, then the valve covers go one way and the money goes the other way. The only problem is the last person on the list, who ends up with an extra set of valve covers. I guess the "last person" is in charge of promoting the concept to the next person....?
Are these about as much trouble to change as a regular OHV set of valve covers? |
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
What do you guys think?
Is it ok to get the dirty, oily covers that are on your car coated OR get a NEW set? Is the floting set a new set or used..? |
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
Oh yea.. in the last issue of modifed mustangs there is a white cobra with coating covers.. few nice pics in there..

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
I dont get to see this post much but if anyone is interested in the stock valve covers I should have mine off by sunday and would be willing to sell for a good price. Make an offer.....hoping for around $190 for the pair. I will ship them in the ford racing box I got mine in.
Here are the blue ones I am putting in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...w/100_2363.jpg |
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
The powder coaters will have to have them clean. Either you run them through the dishwasher when momma's out for the evening, scrub them with dish soap and a brush, or pay them whatever they want to clean them for you.
The floating set is, by definition, a "used but undamaged" pair, since you would be sending the next guy your set. Quote:

Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
Would the car be ok with the covers off for a bit??/
|
Re: Powder Coated Valve covers
Mine have been off for two days on one side. everything is covered in oil so corrosion isnt an issue and as long as you keep small sockets away you should be fine. Cover everything just to be safe with rags or something.
