Mach's in Mass

Well I've been to a number of car cruises and shows this summer
and i've only seen 1 Mach 1 on the road besides mine this year.

Not many in Mass i guess.:HALLOW:

Red Mach'03 10-14-2003 05:52 PM

I thought there would be more blue than red.

Still say those are good numbers....after market suppliers will be MUCH more likely to keep us in a supply of mods and other things such as interiors when ours go in a few years. The more the better. Rare is not always a good thing. A 1965 Mustang with a bench seat is rare...because no body wanted it- even now. 1972 Sprint Mustangs are rare...but you can NOT find an interior, or decal for the hood or correct size fender decals etc. Look at the SVO's- fantastic Mustangs....but you are introuble if you need parts....they just aren't out there. We have GREAT cars that many people will see and the Machs will hit the car show circuit for many years. I think it will help drive the price of our Machs UP because there will be a greater demand. Having 2004 Machs will help too. Many more 69 Machs were made than 03's....look at the price of a 69 mach....it wasn't rare but it sure is expensive now. I really do believe it is a good thing that Ford built more then expected....it will help the Mustang enthusiast with fun in the future and as an investment.

I have to wonder how the numbers breakout with colors vs tranny vs IUP. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out with only 2 options available...

I also wonder how many are still sitting on lots around the country.

Tanklawyer 10-15-2003 11:31 AM

Very interesting indeed. I still haven't seen any other Machs on the road (and Brian aka GR8WYT) works down the street from me! That being said, I am a teeny bit grumpy about the numbers as it relates to cost. Looking back at the press releases, they did say there would be 6500 2003 Mach 1s. As a legal matter, that is a classic bit of false advertising, and very common in corporate America. These statements are all reviewed by the legal department (believe me, that is the case), but then somebody in marketing or production says "hell, these things are selling, let's make more" and then they just ignore what they said before.

Again, I'm 100% happy with the car, love it when groups get together, and am still -- almost a year later -- eagarly awaiting my first encounter with another Mach on the road. Hell, I've had some great encounters with '03 Cobras where we exchange thumbs up and big smiles. I just don't like it when they try to bilk the customer a little bit and push the limits.

Anyway, to evoke The Who, Long Live Mach!

H1RESQ 10-15-2003 01:05 PM

How many Oxford White w/MT and IUP?

I wonder?

H1RESQ 10-15-2003 01:08 PM

155 White w/AT??

How do you know that. If that's true then only 659 with MT?

VANILLAMACHSHAKE 10-15-2003 02:56 PM

Where did the 155# w/at come from did I miss something?

Skoozo 10-15-2003 04:11 PM

Do the Cobra numbers include the Mystic/10th Anniversary cars? That may explain the discrepency between SVT and Team Mustang. I know we have 4 of the 10th anniversary cars sitting on our lot. For some strange reason, we got 4 of those, and only 2 Mach 1's!

Me too.

I would think if you followed the numbers it would be more like 163?

Seems that 20% of total production were Auto.

1943/9652=20% Auto's

814 x .2=162.8 Auto's

We all have something to be proud of. My Torch red Auto w/IU is exactly what I wanted. I guess a small part of me is a bit cheesed about there being more than 6,500, the 04' production run and some of the know quality issues that should have never made it out of the factory the but after reading the other opinions, I do not see this as a problem.

I was tooling down I-75 Saturday afternoon heading toward Atlanta and got a thumbs up from a guy in a new Vette. We did not race but just hung in there together crusing at about 80/85 for a good hour. I am not really sure why I mentioned this, afterall I have never cared one way or the other what the GM boys thought about anything, but for some strange reason that made my day. This is one small "good feeling" that I could actually describe in words. I can not begin to describe in words what that monster does at about 4,000+ rpm when you stand on it. Its one of those things where you just got to be there.

This is why I am going to overlook some of Fords misdeeds concerning the Mach. With all their nearsighted goofs look what they gave us. Right out of the box we have one of the most unique American cars on the road. I know some people pay a lot more for what I connsider a lot less car so I have to say that in my opinion, the good far outweighs any bad. I am happy with my car.

Don't jump the gun, the Mystics are next year, with the exception of the two preprodtion cars that have made the rounds, one coupe and one convertible.

03mach69mach 10-16-2003 09:20 AM

If you break down colors by percentage, you get 8% were white. Then if you look at the fact that we know there were 1943 auto's made, then 8% of 1943 is 155.44 or around 155 cars. Again, this only works if the numbers are large enough. There could be 20% of the autos-white or most of them red. It was just a way to look at it to illustrate how rare the car is even when Ford made more than it originally said it would.

VANILLAMACHSHAKE 10-16-2003 09:46 AM

I knew that, just wanted you to check my math! LOL:p

The cobra numbers (the 13,418 number) include the anniversary models.

Five Oh B 10-16-2003 02:54 PM

Ford built 2,003 10th anniv. cobras...

At least that was the plan. There are 604 SVT dealers. We rec'd 3 10th anniv. cobras which is about right considering the # of SVT dealers.

2004 Mystic Cobras don't start production for awhile yet (we have two on order). Only 1,000 are to be made.

Ok, we got the build count. When is the data going to be available to start calculating build numbers?

Here, here! If they said they made 9,000 cars I still would have bought one. I had a similar meeting with a guy that bought a new Lightening about the same time I bought my Mach 1. He couldn't stop saying what a fantastic looking car it was? I almost felt sorry for the guy. Here he's driving a truck I would have loved to have bought a few months ago and he's carrying on about my car.

Ford4me 10-20-2003 10:54 PM

I read in MM/FF that ford only produced a total of 5,000 Mach 1's.
I just bought the torch red one 10/13/03. What are some of the problems you guys are having?

falcongtho3 10-20-2003 11:01 PM

Congrats on the car and the color! MM/FF got the figures wrong, if you count only red and blue cars it comeup to nearly that number!(OK, we have better sources...:D  )
