Re: Rear brakes How to:

the difference if I remember when I did mine was the "bump" on the gt pads backing plate was taller, which did not allow the caliper to slide back over the pads...

getting the gt pad is a mistake a lot of us have done.

What really makes it bad is, I work at Advance Auto and looked the parts up myself. I just didn't realize that the parts stores list them wrong. I'll know in the future though and I submitted a discrepency on it as well. Hopefully they will fix it in our system.

Re: Rear brakes How to:

MikesMach talked about getting the piston notches lined up with the pad "nubs''... And of course, I missed the point of that statement until I tried getting the caliper over the new pads.

The piston was screwed in enough to get over the pads, but wouldn't go down enough to get the bolts back in. Evidently, the notches in the piston need to be at 6 and 12 o'clock to slide over the nubs on the back plate of the pads.

Once the notches lined up it all went back together pretty smoothly. But it took two hours to figure out. I'll do better on the other side. :>)

So were those GT/V6 specific or Cobra/Mach specific? Just curious.

The pads were Cobra/Mach 1 specific: Hawk DTC-60 (HB183G.585) for track days only.

They worked great (along with the Carbotech XP10s on the front) for the track day at Homestead-Miami Speedway. No fade. No failure. Solid all day, every corner. :>)

I was referring to the caliper/bracket. (In the O.P.)

Re: Rear brakes How to:

I'm redoing the calipers, rotors, and pads on mine. I am having an extremely difficult time with fitting the new calipers over the new pads. The pads are wear ever silvers PN-NAD627. I have the specialty tool to twist the piston in and I get it almost level with the boot, I even used a wrench as leverage to crank it all the way down, with the bleed valve open a little bit and I still can't fit it over the pads. So I don't know what else to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
