150% agree

The Mach 1 Registry and it's members should set a goal to be the largest group at this event!! I think we were the largest at the 40th, but then again, the cars were relatively new. Now 5-6 years later, it would be great to show the other clubs who is Mach (not boss)!!:claus:

We were definitely up there in terms of numbers. Hopefully we can achieve that level of participation again. I also I hope to see you more, Mark, than at a gas stop with your cool cars on a trailer!

Yep.. Indy was considered but totally understand why they would go to Barber..however having at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was very slim..talks were to be at ORP (formly Indianapois Raceway Park)..but the event would have had to be pushed back later in the year. I know Steve McCarley really tried to get it here in Indy, but having it in April would be taking a Big chance!!
Good Choice!!!

That sounds like an awesome trip. The boss and I are coming along but don't have a mach (just a little old Roush). Would we be welcome?

Steve

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary - OFFICIAL THREAD - 4/16-4/19/09

David, Not sure you can be in Chattanooga for lunch with your day on the Dragon. You might if you hit the dragon really early. You might considerI-81 to I-40 then stay in Maggie Valley NC then work your way across the Blue Ridge Parkway, Dragon & the roads from there back to Tellico Plains TN or Maryville. Maggie Valley, Cherokee & Bryson City are beautiful places and not (with the exception of Cherokee) that commercialized like Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. That way you aren't back tracking from Maryville down the dragon then back toward Chattanooga.

It is much better to get on the dragon early and during the week, instead of a weekend. Much less traffic and maybe (maybe) less police. The thing to remember is that most of those roads in that part of the world are mountain roads and some others are pretty cool drives also, but that also means that you can't get from point A to B without racking up some miles.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary - OFFICIAL THREAD - 4/16-4/19/09

If you look at our schedule, Doing the Dragon is on a THURSDAY, IN THE MORNING. We also wanted to stay where it is more accessible for others coming into the area on the major Interstates and the easiest for us.

It is just tentative schedule and Lunch, it depends on the timing.
Thanks, wil check it out.

Re: 45th Mustang Anniversary - OFFICIAL THREAD - 4/16-4/19/09

For what it's worth, a large section of I-40 through Knoxville is closed for repairs for like the next 12 months. You will have to get on I-640 to go around, onto I-275 to get to Maryville. Or you could get off I-40 before Knoxville at Strawberry Plains and travel that road til you get to the Alcoa Highway. Knoxville traffic is notorious without closing I-40 so getting to Maryville will be a little more difficult than it might look on a map.

Good deal, thanks for the Heads up!

Probably easiest for us, We have no major GOOD hiways going south unless you travel east or west to get I79 or I81.

Here is an advanced copy of the registration. Notice that if you are not an MCA member you are required to purchase a membership in addition to your registration fees to participate. Don't know if it matters to anyone but I thought I would point it out.

Got this today from MCA:

The website for the 45th should be online within the week. Please check www.mustang.org for updates.

Sincerely,

Kristie Moore-O'Gwynn

MCA Office Manager

I am a bit surprised that they are limiing the Participant portion to only 2,250 cars. Judged cars are limited to 250.
We may want to look deeper into the Thurs. evening cruise as well as possibly a track event like we did last time. (That may be something Tony can help with)
Also, I'd like to try to get more information on the 'Evening with Ford' for Saturday night.
We did some cool things on our own for the MCA 30th, and they seem to go off pretty well. I'd like to see some similar get togethers on at least Friday night (Hooters or Logans?). Possibly both or more, depending on what they have to offer on Saturday.
