Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Weekend update; finally pulled the motor, work has been a bit crazy.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xl...=w953-h1270-no This time I pulled just the motor, left the tranny. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/kC...=w953-h1270-no Since the motor is out I decided to install Phil's abs manifold. Here's some pics for comparison. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ix...=w953-h1270-no |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Here is the installed picture
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Rs...=w953-h1270-no Install was straight forward and not very difficult; I was stressing over cross threading as the tubing made it somewhat of a pain, patience is key here. I am thinking that a bracket will be needed, I don't like it floating around so much. My mind is thinking this one through. Did open up a ton of space. |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Buffed, polished and waxed the inner fender; couple of spots that I need to tough up.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/3D...=w953-h1270-no The rack was driving me nuts in my pictures, so I started cleaning that up. not finished at all, just a test spot cleaning. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gc...=w953-h1270-no |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Awesome progress..heard alot of people said removing from top just as, or easier than the bottom.

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
(motor from top of bottom) Its all in what you get used to doing I guess.
(ECU) I am about to jump off the deep end and decided to order a new ECU, I was going to go the holley path as they have plug and play type of setup, but I wanted some of the features of the Dominator ECU and that one you cannot get with all the harnesses without purchasing separately. I really liked the FuelTech setups but they were a bit pricy but after comparing to the Dominator and the features of the FuelTech… I have decided to jump head first and I ordered an FT550 Fuel Tech with Harness. I will not get it in until late Nov or even December as it is a new model. I liked the FT600 but a few inputs/outputs that I would never use and LEDs were not worth 1000+ extra dollars. Here's a link, let me know your thoughts. https://www.fueltech.net/blogs/artic...se-ft450-ft550 |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Just wondering if you have had a chance to see if you have the Milk Jug.

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Crazy... got a text from 311-420 the other day and thought I would look around here a few minutes; remembered how much I loved this place and work has taken over in a bad way. Then I thought, I'd post a few updates...
Sadly, I do not have much to post. However, my new motor is ready to be picked up; getting the engine covers airbrushed and my Fueltech FT550 did come in, I am rethinking how I install this beast. I am thinking the radio will be history and it will go in its place. And then figure out a new head unit solution; I only use music from my phone so maybe some sort of hidden radio design. hmmmm |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
That FuelTech device would look pretty nice there in the center console.

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Just a quick update; Motor is back and here is a teaser pic.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/x1...w1392-h1854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/9w...w1392-h1854-no The tape on the valve covers is hiding -12AN Connectors for the breather tubing that I will add later with 90 degree fittings. I am also going to replace all the ugly power steering lines with AN fittings/hoses. I hate the mess going to the front of the car has they are to close to the turbo piping. Here is a pic of the turbo assembly as I removed it about a year ago, just sitting on the bench. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j...w2472-h1856-no |

I am actually busy on it but I took another detour... See below. Many here know that I have built this car in a very cramped garage, well rebuilding it in the same setting was just not very motivating so I had to so something about it. In Jan. I picked this up: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/jd...=w1269-h952-no First lift after install: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/hj...=w1269-h952-no As you could imagine, I was pretty happy with this garage transformation so I started to look at my build in a very different light. I just love working on this thing. So, my first thought was, INSTALL THE MOTOR FROM THE BOTTOM! So suspension came out: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/yj...w1269-h1692-no |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Then I got this crazy idea... clean up my engine bay the way it should be.
This picture is the inspiration for this decision: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/u5...=w1269-h952-no I mean, seriously, look at that mess... So, long story short, exactly last night; I ended up here: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Do...w1269-h1692-no angle 2 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/mR...=w1269-h952-no Now I have some sanding, welding and cutting and sanding and welding and sanding and sanding and sanding and paint and sanding to do. :SMASH: |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Nice!! Nothing like being under the car to work on it!

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Oh man! That's freaking awesome TKat13!

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
Yes, it does BONESTOCK!.
So, I took more off this weekend including removing all the cruise control bits; no need for it in this car. Here she is today and now waiting on my panels to get here, this virus thing is slowing up deliveries of non-essential stuff. :( https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xW...w1375-h1031-no All those crates are Mach parts... yikes. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fj...w1375-h1031-no now that I am stuck waiting on parts, I guess I will start piecing the trans/motor together on the K-Member. |
Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log
I finally just decided to build the mach a little better, so after this there was no turning back.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 there is a ton more effort that pics show but it is coming along: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 Patching up some of the spots I did not like: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 |
