Good update! What is your rear suspension setup and tires? I'm really surprised it spins them at 130, but I also don't recall if you have an overdrive.

Thx; rear suspension is HR Race Springs and MM shocks; but not the drag setup. Life changed and so did my goals so I first started out with a cornering goal but now I want drag setup. I have a TH400 so no overdrive.

130? Geeze. I got nervous when I spun at 60. I think at 130 I'd need new shorts.

Just think, happened when I took my 68 year old mom out on a test drive, she liked it. :)

I will post progress once I get it going; I also plan on some rear suspension changes as well... stay tuned.

Spinning is NOT winning...

so if i wanted to get one of those fans, how and where? what model? etc i need to get a fan thats more slim than our stock without making me overheat cause of lower cfms.

Life keeps getting in the way... but I have some progress. This week I installed new Strange dual adjustable coil-overs with 150lb springs. Before I start doing the rear work I wanted to change the front suspension, test the changes and then hit the rear. I'll try to post up some pictures very soon of the new Struts.

Hardest part was setting the ride height; I need 26.5" from ground to fender lip to clear my driveway, leaves about .5" between the concrete and the chin spoiler.

Does open up a set of Maximum Motorsports struts and coil-overs with 350lb springs for sale, very limited use. (not a daily driver)

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log

Here's my latest plans:
Plans this year:
1. New head gasket...
2. Weld on AN-20 fittings to the radiator and connections to all coolant lines on the motor. (prevent another head gasket lift, hose broke and turbo sucked in the coolant) Real braided lines for coolant.
3. Redo the downpipe
4. Minitub - In Progress now
5. Rear coilovers
6. Add adjustable rear lower control arm mounts to rear end. - Done
7. New front coil-overs with 150# springs (strange dual adjustable)
8. Holley HP EFI ECU
9. Upgraded injectors from 80# to either 120 or 160s, pending on what the tuner tells me I need.
10. roll cage
11. Mount battery in the trunk
12. In the process of all this, clean up my engine bay.
13. Box torque boxes.

Goals, get the stupid thing to hook, rev past 7k and make 1000rwhp.

01yellerCobra 06-07-2018 03:20 PM

I'm getting more and more curious about the aftermarket ECU's. I'm thinking when the time comes to go for stupid power again I'm going to ditch the stock ECU.

people are starting to get my attention with this holley stuff. The low impedance fuel injectors are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper too. Like they said, that alone damned near pays for some of these things. My only concern is down the road I think people see it as way more racecar and your potential buyer pool shrinks a lot

I figure after all my changes to the car (that drives me to a new ECU) that I have done has already limited the buying pool, but the idea of selling the Mach after this many years is all but dried up anyway.

Besides, can you really put a price on the Smiles per Mile!

You hit the nail on the head, the price of injectors is crazy for the IDs, get this kit and it opens the door to the lower cost injectors. I also need a 2-step and bump in... got that too... And if you get crazy, you can have a wide band on each motor side. I already have an E-Boost2 but if you needed a boost controller... its there. This really does save money in the long run.

Re: TKat13's Mach1 Build Log

Installed the Strange Coil-Overs last night; 150lb springs. As a note to help those cranking the spring up; after struggling with the tension on the driver's side, the passenger side I put some Prothane suspension lube on the surface of the lower spring perch, this allowed me to crank up the spring with ease. Moved like butter.

(need to do some washing in there)

The adjustment for these are at the top of the strut and the bottom, did not take a pic of the bottom yet. Compression and Rebound.
The hex head is the top adjuster:

Glad you like it; I do it because so many contributors here at M1R has helped me over the 14 years I have owned the Mach, this is my way saying thanks. If it helps anyone not waste money on their builds then it was worth it... more importantly show anyone that they can do a build like this on their own. For those that do not know me, I am not in the auto industry at all, just something I love. I build sensors that go on power lines, all nerdy stuff.

Thanks Phil for your kind words; its more of the progression of the my Murdered Mach; my wife asked me the other day when I would be done, I grinned and walked away. I know she knew the answer of her question, I am anticipated her asking for a mod for her CS/GT.

Something I have always tried to instill into my daughter (19 now); work hard and help more; the less you expect in return, the more you will receive. Honesty above all things.

I am very fortunate to have the 'few' friends I have; they are lifers for sure. Love this forum, great place.

I do understand Darrell.. I spend years gutting my Mach 1 to be a pro street/drag car. When I think of the money I dumped into it, I just want to disappear! LOL, carry on soldier!!

Round 3 has started...

Oil pressure dropped below 5psi when idling so figured it was past time to pull this thing apart and put on the much needed head gaskets and do a through inspection.

When the blue tape comes out, you know I mean business. :smokin:

While looking around I found this picture from 2004, about 3 months after buying the Mach with my Dog Rusty and a Cat in the car. Yep, towed this thing from Texas to Maryland.

That is the post he is referring to, I will see if I can find the picture of the label. It is thinner than stock, fits the radiator very well with minor mods, instead of a 'fan' on the radiator it has a shroud as well.

I cannot find any good pics of the label, when I get home tonight I will see if the label is still on the fan, it is removed from the car so it should be easy to get for you.

I already have ARP studs, but since I have dumped coolant into the turbo, literally two times now and lifted the head, I figured I would replace them. I am also redesigning the coolant piping. First time was a bad hose clamp, then a hose... The cheapest things cost the most money. Going fully braided with AN hose connections.

Ok cool, yea like to see that fan, I took a stocker and used foam door foam around it to get a seal.

If not I think you posted it in a thread of mine about cooling fans...something he can search for
