This is the gauge cluster I'm ordering Monday. The Tach signal will come from the MSD Digital 7 and the electronic programmable speedo, will come with an Autometer VSS sensor. Not cheap, $680 shipped!!

Jeff Chambers wired up a factory fuel level float/sending unit on my Glenn Performance deep sump tank. When gauge is on E, I will know my deep sump is still full.

Is that belt rubbing on the tensioner?

^^ yeah...it does look close

Yes, its close.. Jeff was just showing me the belt route. He is planning on installing a larger diameter tensioner pulley.

Nope, doesn't rub. There's about 1/2" clearance....its tight, but not rubbing. A larger tensioner pulley will help gain a little more clearance though.

Phil, what belt are you using and which pulley do you have on the Alternator? I'm building up a single turbo 4.6 for a street rod and it will also not have PS/PB/AC so the same accessory drive should work for me. I don't have an EWP but that shouldn't matter.

I just got the belt part number from Jeff Chambers:

AC Delco 6K507

The underdrive pulley is a 2000 Cobra R pulley I bought from Paul's High Performance yrs ago!

Thanks Phil, I have the same UD on the shelf so that should work fine for me. G is using the stock Alt pulley so he may need to get a shorter belt or go UD. We can test it on my car first. He plans on AC but not right away.

Your car is looking nice.

Phil and/or Jeff

I noticed Jakes question above and the answer helps. I have the same alt pulley but can't find the larger idler for the tensioner. Do you remember what that pulley is for? I have a box full of various idlers that are smooth and 6 groove but none seem to work. I love the idea of having a 6 groove there but I really don't want to machine one to work with the tensioner, if I don't have to.

It looks like the belt has clearance even with the stock smooth pulley but it's too close for comfort. I can't find a source using the numbers that are visible on the pulley so I did make an attempt. :23: They are hard to read so I might have them wrong. :smack:

I don't have a part number, but the smooth steel & 6 rib idler/tensioner pullies are the same as the factory 6 rib alternator pulley. Meaning the I.D of the bearings are the same. You could get an alternator underdrive pulley as long as there is clearance with base of tensioner.

I wrote to Liten who makes the Ford factory pullies about a larger diameter 6 rib pulley. Our idler pullies, including the factory alternator pulley are 3".. We want about a 3.250" - 3.375", pending pulley clearance to base of tensioner.

Here is Goodyear pulleys. 49016 looks like a pulley that may work, it's a 3.5" dia 6 groove idler pulley at 26.3mm wide

I machined the crank sensor boss off and tapped it for a pipe tap.. This is why the factory 6 rib pulley gives enough belt clearance.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Dayco, Gates also makes Ford idler/tensioner pulleys. I found a Gates 90mm (3.50") dia with 17mm I.D (.671") This would work on the tensioner, but the pulley may hit the tensioner base. It will be close!

Here is another brand (4 seasons) that has a 6 rib idler pulley at 3.250" dia. But, it's for a wider belt..

Thanks Phil.

I found a couple of 90mmX17mmX30mm pulleys. They all seem to work except the flanged grooved one. That puts it right at 3.5" which is very close. I might need a different belt because I'm thinking about leaving the stock alt pulley installed.

I cut out a pair of cylinder head exhaust port templates to match port the Kooks headers. The Kooks come pretty close matching to a stage 3 port job.

I just need to do a small amount of flange shaping, then I'll polish all the rough inside surfaces.
