There is also a chart that shows match up possibilities and who goes where for those of you that can't figure it out.

Nfl.com posted with a projection made from key statistics only that it would be the Ravens v.s Saints in the Super Bowl

key statistics are different to different people. I've been more accurate than any human NFL analyst. Just saying.

If you're referring to this:

I can punch a bunch of holes in this. Let me know if you want me to break down how worthless this is. I can break this down for you easily lol.

Alright, one issue at a time. For starters, he's ranking everything 1-32. How does this really show how they rank? What if the average offense gains 235 yards passing, the #2 offense gains 320 yards, but the #1 offense gains 650? Yeah, I know that's ridiculous, but I'm just making my point more obvious. It's

1. Not taking into account the actual disparity between different ranks,
2. Not weighting any of the categories. Is everything equal? You can't be serious.
3. Not playing individual match ups. Best statistical teams can't always beat every team. Some bad teams match up with with 'great' teams. Consider point #1 if 3rd down defense # 12 is capable of making 3rd down offense # 3 much worse? What does that mean for defense #11 and better? Or offense # 1 and 2? In my formulas, I actually compare to league average and have no limit to how high a team can score in a category. 1 and 32 isn't enough for some things.
4. No consideration of home field advantage, current injuries
5. Where are the points/game, points allowed/game, points/drive etc,.? I thought teams with more points won? I didn't realize all points were scored in the red zone.
6. Special teams? Average starting positions?

No predictions for Superbowl here. After last year's 7-9 Seattle Suckhawks butt kicking of the 'Aints, anything is possible.

I checked you out, looks like you are on the same pick as earlier in the year right?

Well I have no stats to back me up on this one, going on the old gut. HAHA

Yeah, funny how it worked out like that. Steelers aren't getting there quite like originally projected though. #5 seed instead of #1. Good chance they'll play the Ravens at some point. That will be a tough game for both sides. I have it very, very close.

Burg and baltimore would make a fitting afc championship game. Wouldn't want it any other way to be honest.

CALLED IT!!!!

I hope they don't use that New Orleans ref crew in another Playoff game. They were friggin' blind. How does a negative rush get you a 1 yard gain and a 1st down? That one ref was 2ft. from that one TD catch that was bobbled and he called it a TD. Hilarious. The Lions had their chances though.

You're telling me. The Saints were BLATANTLY holding on a lot of plays. No call. Ever.

This has been happening consistently at least the last few weeks with the Saints. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist with a tin foil hat, but I swear they were doing anything to aid his record breaking passing yards.

Yeah, it's all a big conspiracy!?!:MADNOEL:
The Saints got off to slow and rocky start, but made the plays to bring it home. Going for it on forth down, runs when you expect passes, passes when you expect runs and poor coverage by the Lions (did you even see the wide open receivers?) helped the black and gold move on, but I will say that the Lions will be a team to watch out for next season.

good luck with that prediction chances are good the steelers will get a beat down in Denver today

As a Lions fan I do think they got hosed on a few calls. Worst one being an early wistle on the fumble. That's a 14 point swing becuase they would have ran it back and the Saints wouldn't have finished that drive. Also the spot on the 4th down play was just plain bad.

With that said if they would wrap a guy up and not try to just knock them down they might actually make a tackle or two. The Saints just wore out the defence at the end. The final should have been much closer than it was. Tackle drills from now it opening day for those guys.

True story...Broncos have nothing to lose. Either way, my Denver flag will remain flying outside my house.

The Rapist vs Jesus Jr showdown.

Yeah, a lot of atrocious tackling by the Lions. Saints won't have that luxury next week.

:31: Yeah, the Brokback Broncos got nothing to lose, but when they don't have any kind of offense how the hell are they suppose to win? Tebow throws an accurate pass about 1 every 10 throws, and do you really think McGahee is gonna run all over the Pitt defense? The only way Denver has a chance is if Pitt has 5 turnovers.

stang8092 01-08-2012 12:18 PM

Re: NFL Football Thread

I guess it will all depends on the performance of the 4th most sacked QB in league...on one good wheel. I see him coughing up the ball once in the pocket...maybe an INT or two.

Well it's 14-6 Broncos now. Whatever happens from here on out I doubt you'll be able to call this a beatdown.

Tell that to the team that just gave up three 50+ yard passing plays in one quarter.

Be nice now...these are experts we're dealing with after all.

Kinda like all of those Mach 1 'experts' out there...

:surprise: Murphy's Law. We'll see what happens in the 2nd half. If they lose it'll be the worst Playoff loss I've seen them play in almost 40 years. It would be an even bigger disgrace than last years Suckhawks-'Aints game. I'm sure their were no experts in that game either. (I even thought the Suckhawks had no chance)

If Denver wins this game, I will happily admit I was wrong.

I do after all want them to win, despite giving them no chance to do so.
