Re: 4.30's or 4.10
im a daily driver, and i have the 4.10's in my mach, with a CAI, longtubes, and an xpipe, with a short throw shifter. i also have the nitto extreme 555 tires, and they are alot wider than stock. i havent really hopped on it since i got the new gears (1.5 months) until the other night and with the 4.10 gears my tires were spinning through first and all the way through second and i wasnt even flooring it. and i get to 65 and am at about 2000 rpms even. so i recommend the 4.10s if your a DD.

Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Can anyone tell me what a Auto Mach will do in 3rd? I still want to be able to do a track day if I decide too.
I need to be able to hit at least 130 mph. Thanks! |

Over one year later anyone? Thanks |
Re: 4.30's or 4.10
ok I'll reply. I had swapped out the stock 3.55's for 3.90:1 and FRPP 31 spline axle shafts. The 3.90's were a nice and perfomed well for my hardly ever driven 2004 Automatic Mach1. I then installed a Vortech without an after cooler. I want an air-to-air cooler mounted in front as I have zero interest in relocating the battery. Any way, I went back to the stock 3.55:1 R/P and have done nothing since. My car now has a whopping 2,004 miles on since I basically never drive it however, early on I did purchase the FRPP 4.10's but they as well as other items (KB Matrix-Frame stiffeners and Stock Mach 1000 audio system) remain in a box yet to be used and or installed. YaaaY for too many projects! Scott

Here is a chart with an Auto with 4.10's in all gears up to 8000 RPM, not that you'll be reving that high...
This is with the stock tire height of 25.681" |

With 3.55s you will get there if you bump your rev limiter to 6000. with 3.73s you will need to go up to at least 6500 rpm to do so. |
Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Fauxnali,
Great information, thanks for that. Looks like I can hit 120mph in 3rd @ 6000rpm, which will work since I only plan on doing a road course only once and I may not even do that, the rest of the time it will be for street use and it may see some 1/4 mile action. All the best, Triple |

Here is a couple of charts for automatics using 6000 RPM as a redline and showing the MPH at redline as well as the rpm at the shift points. There are charts for 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30. This is for the stock tire size.
Give me some time and I will do likewise for the 5 speeds. |

Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Can you throw 3:90's in there as well, that might be an all around good option. I would hate to install 3:73's when Mach's already have 3:55.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Triple |
Re: 4.30's or 4.10
I will add 3.90 and 4.56 as soon as I get a chance.
That should take care of all scenarios. |

Here you go.

Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Looks like if you want to go with 3.90s' at 120 mph, you'll have to bump your redline up to 6150 or so.

Re: 4.30's or 4.10
I'm hoping the Mods can take all of your information, and make it a Sticky.
This information is priceless. Thanks again, Triple |

No problem, with the help of a good gear calculator, a little math and my friend MS Paint anything is possible. |
Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Alright time to get serious! looks like I'm going with 4.10. I've given up on the idea of dong open track days and will stick with 1/4 tracks instead.
My car is a auto, with exhaust, CAI and tune and 10K on the odometer. I'm hoping of getting into the high 12's with 4.10 and I'm pretty sure I won't run out of gear with 4.10's the 1/4. Michael |
Re: 4.30's or 4.10
You may want to consider a torque converter too. I haven't done one yet but I have heard that the gears work a lot better once a higher stall converter is installed. That will definitely my next mod.

Re: 4.30's or 4.10
Is anyone having a hard time locating a set of 430 gears for sale? FRPP does not have 430 gears anymore....
