Atlanta Mach Meet?

I saw in the other thread several peeps were interested in meeting in the Atlanta area ....

What if we tried to set something up at Team Ford, Gene Evans Ford, or Mustangs Unlimited?

Are there enough people interested in doing this to pick a date & plan something??

Eepcially since I've only seen 2 or 3 Mach's around the area since I got mine -- none of which were DSG. January 16 ( my birthday) would be my choice for a date... Let me know. Maybe we can start a club for the few of us who were lucky enough to get Mach's, go to the local shows, etc...:CHEERS:

My wife and I are from ATL and we would like to meet other owners in the ATL area. We live in the Communist Republic of Maryland now, but we have driven to ATL in our M1 twice now. Unfortunately, my wife is in Iraq right now and won't be back until March. If you plan a spring date, we will try to be there!

Why would you have your Mach put away in a garage? Its only hit freezing a couple of times and hasn't even thought about snowing! I'd hate to think of Georgia as the home of the wimpy Mach 1's...

I also have a friend who is a waitress there.

When we get the Mustangs together we usually go to Sonic. People like to bring there kids. I'll let you know the next time we get together. We usually get 10-12 cars.

Team Ford in Marietta is where I bought my last four Fords including my 99 GT and my Mach. Salesman Desmond Robain used to work for me when I was in the Navy and gave me great deals. They always have a wide selection of performance Mustangs on their lot (Machs, Rousch's, Saleens, GT's, etc).

Donna, The March 21 date would be great, perfect for me. :HOPPY: The weather should be alot better then as well.

The February 15 is bad for me, I am scheduled to work. :mad: The weather would not be as nice either. You know the south generally has the worst weather in February. It is suppose to snow in the morning and our worst snows have been in February. Now for the main reason, I will not have my new wheels on by that date.

For anyone wanting to stay over night in Atlanta, there are many hotels and great eateries. There are alot of hotels that offer special weekend rates unless there is a convention or the like.

Ok, I talked to Joe about having it at Parkway, but they don't have a dyno. I've contacted Team Ford (they do have a dyno) and I'm now waiting on a call back from the GM about dyno pricing, and available dates. If they can't accomodate us, Mustangs Unlimited had 2 dates we could choose from. As info comes in, I will post it up for you guys.

I have an in at No Limit Mortorsports which is a Mustang performance shop. If we don't get a dyno this time I could set something up at a later date. With enough cars we can get a good break there.

My sugestion here is not to get hung up on the dyno thing. If we go to Team Ford and they have a dyno then that's great. But lets work on getting togther first. Either way I'm in and if I can swing it I'll bring both my Machs if anyone is interested in the old car.

Got a call from Team today! They said they would be happy to host us! I am going to make one more call tomorrow to go over the dates & will post as soon as I have it all set up. Looks like dyno pulls will *likely* be $50 for 3 pulls (that has to be verified), but we will probably have to have a minimum of 10 commitments. I will get all those details when I talk to them again tomorrow.

Dates we are looking at with Team are Feb 28; March 6; and March 13.

I need a sign up list for guys who want to Dyno!

We need a minimum of 10 people for the price of $60 for 3 pulls.
If we get more than 10 peeps, then the price will drop depending on demand. I have to have a number to my contact there by March 1st for the dyno runs.

They are also setting up a Pavillion up front for us to show off our cars where everyone can see them. They will also be providing lunch on the grill (dogs & burgers). Along with the dyno, as time permits, they will do some "tweaking" to your Mach. Parts department will also be open for you to buy stuff & have it installed!

We are going to discuss this, only problem is does anyone have a hook-up on hotels? Since it is abouta 4 hour drive me come up the night before and stay a night to see Atlanta and the surrounding area. Does anyone have any ideas about after we meet at the dealership? Anyone have a big garage? Matbe someone needs something done to there car, bolt on or something and we could rally the troops to get it done.

Just go to Expidea.com and search for Atlanta hotels. You'll want to stay in Marietta to be close to the meet. If you want to stay down town Atlanta the Westin or Marriot Marque (secure valet parking) are very nice and right in the center of things.

As far as a garage goes. If someone needs help we could use mine. I have a full tool set also as I used to be an auto mechanic. The problem is I live about 1.5 hours south of where the meet is going to be.

Let me know where your motel is before you book and I'll make sure you don't end up somewhere you don't want to be.

There are several good hotels in the Delk Road/Franklin Road area of Marietta that are just down the street from Team Ford on Highway 41. I know there's a La Quinta, Comfort Inn, Wyndham Gardens, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn and Holiday Inn for sure. Marietta is very "hotel rich". There are many along the length of I75 through Marietta. Also in that area is a Dave & Busters restaurant off of Franklin Road, which is a restaurant/adult arcade facility. That might be a good place for a post-cruise get together. They have a huge parking area where our Mach's would look cool. They have a Special Events Department which might be able to put something together that evening.
