I'm working closely with Custom Performance on helping setup drag racing events for '04 in the NC/SC area. One of things on the table that we wanted to post and ask you guys is if you'd like to race a "points race" of say 4 drag race events in the area (Mooresville, Darlington, Rockingham, Farmington, etc) based more around daily driven, mildly modified street cars. (Mach 1's would be in 4v Naturally aspirated)
Dale wants to take it to the next level by running 4 races each yr with points awarded for how often and how far you go in your class. You don't have to compete for points, but it might be interesting to have that extra trophy/money to shoot for.
This is kinda similar to NMRA or Fun Ford, where you compete on the circuit at different tracks, except this is more local for us average every day racers that can't afford time and money to travel across country with a trailered racecar. The winner's payout is looking pretty nice also. $100-$200 gift certificate and trophy per class, but that's not official yet. So it's worth the time and effort to come and play. ;)
So....what do you think? Honestly? Any input from you southeastern folks? Did you guys like the past 3 Custom Performance shootouts in November?
