Hey everyone. I was wondering what ever happened to the Norwalk OH Shootout so I searched the Registry for info. I found a thread with a great video and some great pictures. But I've got to tell ya that I was a little dissapointed in the turnout. They had a lot of very fast Machs there but the overall attendance was kind of sad.

I'm beginning to think that we may have the most active bunch of 03/04 Mach 1 owners around. It looked like they maybe had 24 or so Mach 1's show up. I hope I'm wrong but the pictures sure didn't show very many cars. Good grief, we get almost half of that on a spur of the moment street drags night. For a nationally advertised event with sponsors I would have thought there would be WAY more Machs show up. Maybe the caliber of race prepared Machs scared some away?

Maybe when I actually retire, and stay retired I'll check into trying to organize a West Coast Shoot Out for all of us on the left coast.

Did anyone hear more results on how it went?

OK, what ever you say! Where were you? The results of the event have been posted right after the event.

Here is the link at bottom for next years vote for location of the event. I was told that if it's held on the East coast, 70-80 Machs would be there??? Does not look like that!! Is that what your telling me for Arizona, that West coast will have more?

I would be down for a west coast shootout. Even with my slow blue hooker.

Hey Phil... take it easy. I'm not giving anyone a hard time about this. It's just that I was pretty pumped up about going to the event. It was soon after I was scheduled to retire and I figured I'd go visit family in Michigan afterwards. But then I was only retired less than a week before going back to work so all of my plans fell through. And yes I even was going to spend the $500 in gas it was going to take to drive there and back. And very LONG two days on the road each direction. I notice you live in Ohio, so don't raz me about not attending when it was in your backyard.

Anyway, after all the press and talk I expected a lot of Machs to show up. If the pictures that are posted don't tell the story then please post some more pictures. I was expecting to see dozens of machs, not a mostly empty parking lot. Perhaps the weekday race kept a lot of owners from attending, that would explain why so many of the sponsored Machs were there.

If M1M says it's a good venue that's good enough for me. But as of now I'm glad I didn't spend a few thousand dollars and 4-5 days on the road.

Here we go again. Everybody bitching about the turn out, where it was held, and how far to travel, but no body offering to put one on and host it.

My comment to rsnider of "where were you?" had nothing to do where he was from or West Coast, East Coast crap that your now talking about! Or about Arizona has no fast cars, wtf is that!

I think Dan and I may come up with something for the folks on the left coast.

Then good, that takes care of this thread. Have rsnider delete his post and start a thread about a West Coast event. Not Norwalk vs Arizona!

And you need to get with Bill Pinder and get an East Coast event going. Since you were the one that raised cain and made several statements that if held on the East Coast at ATCO or NED, there would be 70-80 Machs. Also, while you were slamming the 07 showdown event of its attendance!

Seems like everytime this crap goes on, a new poll is started and the same results keep happening.

I only "raised cain" as you put it after i found out it was to be held in Ohio year after year without ever moving around the country.. I wasnt the only one that felt that way!!

Im also not "Slamming" those who were in attendance or the total # either.. Had there been 100 or more cars show up id feel different about it.. Id be like Dam thats a crowd! Some beitch, who wouldnt.. But with only 24 cars showing up its not like we couldnt duplicate that just about freakin anywhere in the country?? So why not move it?? Whats the worse that could happen? Only 24 show up?? So what! Thats all that made it to the 1st one...

Thats why i think it shoulda moved around each year so other "Pockets" of 25 or more can have a chance. Is it so wrong to feel that way?? Does it make the rest of us who live far away from Ohio look greedy?? What if the exact same 24 people + or - a few show up year after year & it never grows any larger?? Will it then be worth keeping it in Ohio?? Whats the point then?? Might as well move it around & at least give others a chance. :33:

I apologize to everyone for ever getting this started. The Norwalk vs Arizona was only meant to compare interest in the 03/04 Mach 1 model. It wasn't meant to start a fight over what coast could build the faster car or to get anyone upset. Truthfully... when I post on the regional forum I wasn't expecting too many even to see it.

Back in 2004 My wife and I drove to Vegas and met up with over 30 03/04 Mach 1's. The event was set up by Aaron Tachinaba (Tach9). I don't know if you do a search if any of the old threads are still in the Registry memory? We had a blast. Friday night at the restuarant at the speedway followed by late night drags at "The Strip" across the street. Saturday was full of meetings and events with an early evening dinner at the MGM. We then took all of the Mach and cruised the strip. It was soo cool seeing a hundred yards of Mach 1's. I know that this must sound kind of wussy to the hard core gearheads... but we had a great time meeting other Mach owners.

The Vegas meet was not covered or mentioned in any magazines, the Registry was still in it's infancy, and we still had a good turnout. I guess that is why I was so jazzed about Norwalk. I was simply remembering what a great bunch of people own Mach 1's and was looking forward to another memorable event.

We should see about getting the Mach's together in Vegas again. There is an all Ford Car Show in Henderson, in March or April, would be a good event to tie into.

It's amazing how numbers inflate with time...posts on the .org indicate that about 20 Machs were present. That meet was repeated in 2005 in CA...the numbers varied from 10 to 16 Machs depending on who you asked. There was talk of a third, again in Vegas, but I guess too many people lost interest in it because nothing was ever posted about it.

Fact is, we are a small group of enthusiasts. It's very difficult to get a date and time where more than a handful can attend. You also have the last minute things that cause plans to be changed...you can't account for those during planning.

The best turnout I have seen was 2006 Knotts Berry Fabulous Fords Forever, 39 Cars. It dropped off quite a bit this year (high 20's).

LOL!!! You still did not beat the 1st annual showdown with 24 class racers and 3 Mach 1 spectators! 27 Mach 1's!!!! This does not count normal people that came to this event with other vehicles! LMAO at this thread!!!

The number of Machs in Vegas must have been close or over 20... but it was hard to get them in the same place at the same time? I think we had the most cars at the friday night dinner. After that some of the people went in different directions. It was very difficult to get everyone together on a Saturday night in Vegas. After Friday night and all day Saturday some had enough "car stuff" and the draw of the casino's was just too great.

This would be a good point to make when trying to organize another get to gether. If you choose somewhere with an attraction (Disneyland for example) you've just got to plan on loosing some people at some point.

Hey Sod. try to find the video of the Machs making the turn up the ramp in the parking garage... it was a fantastic sound!!!!

There is somebody in Las Vegas I could talk with about a Mach 1 Class. That would get all our cars together for a few pic's. Might be able to get a group rate at the Sunset Station in Henderson too!

OK...........I'll do some checking on a date for the all Ford Show in Henderson, it has been in March or April in the past.Am suppose to be staying at Sunset Station next Wenesday, so I can do some asking about a group rate. Will ask about group parking and security for our Cars.

FYI, Highway 93 is two lanes in both directions from the Western side of the Joshua Tree Forest, to Wickieup now, with two lanes in both directions for a short section south of I-40.
