What's the difference?

:23: j/k. My wife asked me to look some up and research. I think she is trying to pick up a new hobby. Anybody here have an real experience with either, more-so the microscope than the tele.

Looking for brands, prices, quality etc. And I know enough to say I wont be buying anything ourageousely expensive.

I'm still reasearching but would like to know what to look for from somebody who knows a moderate amount about them.

:surprise: They have telescopes that know where you are and has gears that automatically points at the target you choose on the cpu. Crazy price but ****.

I remember being a kid trying my hardest just to find the **** moon in the telescope lol.

I know A bit about microscopes. Look on ebay for a good used Aus Jena compound scope (east german, Zeiss optics for cheap) or a used Bausch & Lomb Balplan compound scope. If you want new at a good price chech out Labomed scopes made out of India, they make some of the optics now for Zeiss microscopes.

A friend who was heavy into astronomy recommended not buying anything cheap and looking into a good used 10" reflector (parabolic) model at minimum.

If your wife wants to look at bugs and objects that have depth then a Dissecting Microscope is what you want. If see wants to look at things like critters in a drop of pond water that you put on a slide then you need a Compound Microscope, or just get both!
