I had one dealer offer 16000 and one offer 17500 but the higher dealer was trying to rip me off on the other car. I was thinking right around 17000 so if anyone wants it. 31500 miles, torch red, only mods are x-pipe and mufflers, im in hinesville georgia

I'm dealing with the same thing. They raise how much they will trade it for but then your paying 4k over sticker for the car you want. We need to create a car buyers union. Stick it to these guys.

I actually gave serious thought to starting a website of the people. Post standard paid prices for cars and rate dealerships. They don't wanna do warranty work, fine (etc). We lower the rating! Too bad it's just a dream right now :(

Yeah next time i go to a dealership i'm not going to tell them what car i want to look at right off the bat i'll get a quote for mine them tell them which car and see how much they go back on the trade in. How much did they offer you?

Thats the problem with trading, they will give you whatever you want and tack it to the sale of the new car. All you should have to do is ask them to disclose the ACV (actual cash value) of your trade. Then you have a new ballgame to play knowing what they are actually buying your car for. It is usually well below wholesale unless they plan to keep it on the lot, such as a high demand vehicle.

It shouldnt have to be that way. These guys are making money either way so why dont they just give us a break?

Depending on what you're buying, $16k trade in is actually like about $13k cash. I'm sure you probably know this already, but the car you're buying IS MARKED UP.....in some cases for a used car, as much as $5K more than what they paid for it. New cars a little less.

With the mileage on your car, $16k on a straight sell is about the most you can expect to get, but be prepared to take less. Supply and demand my friend, supply and demand. Good luck!!
