I got my 18x9 replica wheels installed. I put on BFG KDW 265/40/18. I don't think the pictures really show it off the way they look in person, but I am very happy with the look!

Looks good. I'm gonna set up with the 275's when I go with the 18x9's on the rear.

Now all you need to do is lower the car a bit and it will look killer, my opinion.

Looks great, I'm with Mach1Man, lower it some and that would really set off the 18's!

Still looks good as is though.

Looks good! Those 265X40X18 tires are about 3/4" or so more diameter than stock tires, so you took about 3/8" of 4X4 look away. Personally, I'm getting used to the stock look with slightly higher than stock tires.

Your speedo may be reading just a tad slow now, or at least right on. No more built in error for sure. Enjoy!

Ralph,
Actually, the tires .6" larger diameter, but I also got 4.10's so I'm waiting for my "speedchanger" to correct it.

Thanks

Rockends,

I like that window tint you have, what % tint did you go with?

So the back and the two rear sides are at 35% the two front sides are actually only 20%. They ended coming out a lot darker than I expected.

Yeah...Use a SpeedCal to adjust for rear gear and tire size. To me the 265X40X18 is perfect tire size for the wheel if you are making speedo adjustment anyway. I used 255X40X18 with stock gears figuring I could get by with not correcting speedo, but your size is better.

How do the aftermarket wheel compare to the OEM? I was thinking about using the stockers up front and 18's in the rear. Do they lo0ok like the OEM?

Nice pics for both of you guys...How much did you guys pay for the 18s?

$280 for the set of four :HOPPY: Ebay for AFS wheels. Didn't even pay shipping costs since I live right down the street. :D

I heard close enough you can't tell the difference unless they are side by side.

Now I know why I keep loosing the those darn bids on ebay. I ended up with 17X9 Chrome Bullet wheels for 510.00 and they should be on there way. Atleast I will be able to use the tires till I can get 275X40X17 on there!

Differences between stock and these rims, as far as appearance goes are pretty minor. It seems these AFS rims are a bit more polished, reflect more. (I actually prefer this fact over the stock)
Another difference although you have to look very closely and side by side to see it is the first lip into the inside is painted the grey where on stock it's still the polished metal... very minor in my mind.

Great wheels, guys. I still haven't found a wheel that I like better than the stock wheel style, so it's great to see that the replica 18's look just as good. I'm thinking of going with a set myself when the mod budget permits, though I'm thinking 17x9's and 275's on the rears at least.

I think its great that you guys got the Mach replicas. I also, really like the stock look, just not wide enough. I think I"ll go for the 17X9's and get 275s on the back. I had a 00 GT with 17x9's and H&R SS springs and it looked killer. If I could get the Mach to look close to that and still have a good ride I'm game. I'm hoping the Steeda Sports lower it enough for looks. Anyways, nice cars! How much do those 18's weigh compared to the stockers? Anyone know? The only problem with 18's is the price of tires.....son of a.....man i'd like to own a tire shop.

oh yeah here's a pic of my old one with 17x9 03 Cobras on it.

See ya

Not wide enough? I have 18x9's with 275's in the rear. Maybe i'm just confused by your comment.

Wish I would have weighed everything before I put them on but didn't get the chance. If anyone has a chance to weigh the stock compared to some AFS replicas it would be much appreciated.

I meant the 17x8's are definitely not wide enough. I like the stock wheel, but why couldn't they just give us the 17x9's?....

Gotcha. When I bought my car the finance manager told me to do two things. Get the windows tinited and get some new wheels/tires. He also didn't know why Ford put what they did on.

I weighed mine and each tire/wheel was about 10 lbs more.

In one of the new 5.0L or MM&FF a company is advertising Mach 1 replica wheels in 17x10.5.

That would really look wicked with 315's on a factory style wheel.

Based on what you guys are saying, I'm concerned (for my own future setup) about the unsprung weight those wheels add. Anyone know if the 17x9's are significantly heavier than our 17x8's? What was the actual weight on the full wheel/tire combo for 18x9? The reason I ask is that the older style Cobra R 17x9 has caught my eye and is reputed to be "lightweight". . .

I purchased a set of 18X9 Black Bullitt wheels from AFS for my DSG, the backspacing is 6.11" as opposed to the usual 6.25" that I see on most 18X9's for the Mustang. I have not mounted them yet and have been worried that they are going to stick out too far on the front. In your pic's the fit looks perfect, could you tell me what the backspacing on your wheels is?

MACH & ROLL

Flashback,

Mine are also 6.11" back space, and as you see the fit is perfect!

How about a pic of the Cragers on your car. I have been thinking about them. they look great in the Magazines.

Mach and Roll, what speed cal did you use? also what was the part number on your alum driveshaft. My shop tried telling me that they didn't make one for the auto mach. Thanks in advance

grlshy,

I am waiting to get a Diablo Predator Programer to correct the speedo, it's currently running 11% higher than actual. The drive shaft is the same as the 5sp(M-4602-J), you just have to use the yoke from you factory shaft. That info was direct from Ford Racing.

Cool Thanks. Did you notice any difference with the Alum DS? I know the gears are a huge gain.:D

I did the D/S at the same time as the gears, so I don't know if it was any different from stock. But it does look good!!

I'm glad you found something ya really like! I love them too!

Please forgive me if it seems as though I am copying what you have.

I don't think the Cragars appeal to "today" people like they do for an 'ol school guy like me.

The look has always been my favorite and with the concept behind the new Mach 1, I think it is the perfect choice for me. I was going to put them on my '99 Z-28, but the style of the SS Cragar for it didn't much resemble the 60's style like the ones you have on your Mach. I guess the offset wasn't right for it.

Thanks again for posting the pictures of your Mach.
