I did a search and saw some smattering of info on this but nothing comprehensive.

What is the stock 17x8 offset and backspace?

What would be a good offset and backspace for 9" wheels all around?

Same question if I went with 10" or 10.5" in the rear?

If I missed this info on another post, please direct me.

Thanks

I had a hell of a time trying to find out this info for a custom set of wheels I am having made, finally I spoke with the guys @ Wheel Vintiques and I went with 17x9.5" rear with a 17x8" front. They would not make a 17x9 for the front because the design of the wheel would not work on the Mach's front end.

However a 17x9 Cobra wheel works fine on a Mach, so it comes down to wheel design. IMO if you’re looking to order custom made wheels and the wheel manufacturer or seller can't guarantee the fit of the wheels and want you to provide backspacing and offset stay away. (That's what happened to me)

I do know you can use an 18x9.5 in the rear but I don't know what the max width is.

If you give them a BS and offset and they don't fit, your SOL...
If they guarantee fit and the wheels don't fit make sure you can return them.

Like above said, not all wheels clear our fat Cobra brakes. When they say fit Mustang, it may not mean our cars.

However, the 17X9 03 Cobra wheels (that fit) and the 17X9 and 18X9 AFS wheels that fit are 6.1" BS and 26 MM offset.

My FR 500 wheels in 18X9 are 5.9" BS, and I wish they were 6.1", to go in a little more in front.

I was looking at a couple of AFS's wheels.

They have a cobra copy with 9s for the front and 10.5s for the rear. 17x9 (+26mm offset with 6.11 backspace) for the front and 17x10.5 (+27mm offset with 6.9 backspace) for the rear.

They also have the Mach 1 copy in a 17x9 (+26mm offset with 6.11 backspace)

Will both these work?

Like we said above, the AFS 17X9and 18X9 with 6.1" BS will fit fine. They say their 10.5" fits also, on a stock car. However, I know a lot of folks who have had fitment problems with them. If you are lowered a lot, have aftermarket exhaust pipes, etc, you may have some problems. Some have to use spacers or move pipes around, or reverse quads. That's a lot of wheel and tire for our relatively puny power level. If you were making 500 RW and wanted to run 315 DR's, it would be a good match. MHO

Sorry man. I only decided at the last minute to put in a bid because the auction was closing and the price was still so good. If you were next high bidder, I guess I beat you out by 97 cents. Unless you bid on another set in the meantime, I can post how they look when they get here.
