So far it's a good deal. I'll bet there are a few bidders lurking for the end of the auction.

Will definitely go higher than that price. Because if it does not, then I will be purchasing it!

I don't see if it has a "reserve"? does it?

machgsxr
04-12-2006, 07:08 PM
No reserve.

dmj13
04-12-2006, 08:06 PM
Nope, no reserve....the seller must have someone ready to run the bid up for him to be sure it brings what it needs to bring.....any guesses as to the final sales price??

That's going to be one pissed off seller if that thing does end up going for less than $15k! Still $14,500 with a little over an hour left til the end of the auction.

Blackpony04
04-12-2006, 10:24 PM
I'd be a little concerned considering the seller has only sold 5 things on Ebay and he has one negative. That's a lot of cash to send on faith and I know I couldn't do it...even if I could save 5 grand.

I had a seller on ebay, that was geting rid of an S281 vert with speedster package. I emailed him asking about the price, because it was only 2 years old, no reserve, and was about 10K...low miles. He said there was nothing wrong with it, if he didn't get what he wanted, he would just relist the car. Obviously NOT giving it to the high bidder......some people are just jerks and need to stay away from ebay.

I HOPE this is not the case.

ya just got home, i got appoved for loan today and ready to buy.... seller contacted me on ebay "Hello, you won my auction. Since you have zero feedback I will ask you to send $5,000.00 deposit direct to my bank account before we make any arrangements. Regards. Kimberly." does this seem fishy????<new to ebay but what kind of legal rights do i have? sending that much $ off and getting nothing in return accept a promise to make arrangements?? i left my home @ cell # and no calls or a place to send yet.

machgsxr
04-13-2006, 06:48 PM
fly overthere and pick it up all cash. You got a deal you can afford to do something like that. I would not risk it by sending money direct to his bank account.

jdrake19
04-13-2006, 06:56 PM
There is no way I would give them a $5,000 deposit. Tell them you will be there this weekend with the money or something. Hope everything goes great!

Now that I say that, it does say they expect a $5k deposit...Tell her you need to call and talk to her directly first, at least get a phone number.

04-13-2006, 07:01 PM
Fly there and give it all to them at one time. It would take laee time for them to let you do that then to relist it and wait for it to end agian.

car was listed for sale in "Item location: Vicksburg, MS, United States" and now the seller address is coming up in City: Philadelphia
State: PA? pa would be alot closer, could have it payed and home by sun. i called her a couple mins ago with the # provided by ebay and it was a fax machine .. ill try later

You know, looking back at the auction and then seeing how the seller has been responding to you, this deal is starting to smell funny. I hope it works out for you, but don't be surprised if it doesn't. Whatever you do, DO NOT send them any money, or at the very least, get a third party escrow involved or something to where you can show the seller you're serious without actually sending the money to her. Good luck!!

MachDoug
04-13-2006, 07:38 PM
Good Luck man...sounds like a good deal...but I would be reluctant to send 5k just like that...protect yourself. :what:

I sold my Starsky and Hutch car over Ebay and was in constant phone contact with buyer. That all you get is "send 5k to this account" sounds like something you should be wary of. Could be legit but thats not very reasonable without some additional contact.

dmj13
04-13-2006, 08:29 PM
Can you paypal it? Any protection through Paypal? I have bought several autos on Ebay in the past.......have always been very pleased with the transactions....HOWEVER, the sellers have always had a gazillion automobile transactions before I typically buy also. That said, if you remember I was high bidder on that car before I stopped to let CRTBONES have it. Must admit the deal is sounding a little shady at this point. Hope it all works out but I am with the others--Do not send cash until you communicate with seller, get something in writing, etc. Good luck man!

Not sure what they can do for you......seller could have set up a "dummy" account in hopes that you would send the 5K without thinking twice......I have never contacted eBay about a seller before....anybody else have advice for CRTBONES besides keep shopping for a legit Mach seller?

Seems to me that you would have to show that the seller was acting in bad faith before reporting them to ebay. The auction does state that a $5,000 deposit is required at the end of the auction, so the request is not out of line.

The escrow service is a good idea, or you could reply to the email that you will be bringing the full amount this weekend. You have the VIN, so the bank should be able to release the check to you to carry to the seller. If the seller doesn't want to cooperate, then you can go to ebay and show that the seller is acting in bad faith.

Sorry for you, crtbones. You ought to report him to eBay, for sure. Keep looking - the right Mach will come along! I watched eBay for months before I bought the one I have now. I bought it off eBay with no problems! All the best to you!

ponygt65
04-14-2006, 03:49 PM
If you still want the car, I would continue to contact VIA email, and explain given the circumstances you don't feel comfortable giving the $5K, and would like to make other arrangements, like flying in to pick it up.

You could always do a Carfax report to find out where the car was last registered.

Vicksburg,MS is only 1 hr away from me. Kinda pointless though to beat up the person that just had their ebay account stolen and charged. These scammers usually only run 1 or 3 day auctions. They usually have an abnormally low "buy it now" price on the listing. They also will post their email address on the listing for the person to email rather than using the "ask the seller a question" option. The scammers are getting braver and smarter than ever. I hate a thief!!

Probably never seen any track time either. I wouldn't touch a car with that many go fast goodies. I mean a roll cage, N20 with a blower. Sunday driver all the way. A little old lady drove it to church on Sundays and the grocery store on Tuesdays.

i did email ebay just to clear up the action and to see if they had any info. they sent this w/ tips sorta long sorry Hello,

I appreciate you notifying SafeHarbor with your concern.

Thank you for your report about the seller telroc. I have submitted the
seller and their auctions for review from our more specialized fraud
department. Their response time is fairly quick to matters such as
this. However, you should not expect a response from them, because
their task is more oriented to investigations than customer interaction.

Please do not continue with any transaction with this person. I don't
believe you were planning on it, but I wanted to reiterate that you
should not send this user any money.

Just for future reference, I am including a list of things that should
alert you to possibly fraudulent offers or transactions on our site (and
off our site). Any time you see an auction or email that has the
following elements listed below, you should use extreme caution:

1. eBay doesn't have an escrow service that helps with transactions.

2. Send Money via Western Union

3. Says that the item is in an eBay Warehouse (We don't have one)

4. Price looks too good to be true

5. Square Trade Approved(SquareTrade is never used for payments)

6. eBay Inspected and Approved (eBay Doesn't Inspect Vehicles)

7. eBay Safety Board (There is none and we will never tell you to follow
through with a transaction)

8. Seller says they ended it, but it is no longer on the site

9. The seller asks you to contact them at a separate email address and
states that they cannot receive messages through "Ask Seller a
Question."

This is not to say that all auctions that have these elements are
fraudulent, just use your best judgement.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Rousseau
