no, the shaker hood will stay on. Wouldn't look very nice with a big open hole in the hood would it. It will not be functional though. Doesn't really matter to me as how I will have a much better force of air with the turbo. LOL

It looks as though they are going a pretty good job. I was kinda thinking that they were just gonna slap somthing together, but it looks like they are taking pretty good care of it. How much longer until you get it back?

As far as being NA instead of turbo charged, I am sure Sandman is thinking, "Glad it's yours and not mine...."

Im just saying why take a 30k unique Mustang like a Mach1 and add a turbo? GO out and get a used 99 or 02 cobra and mess it up . With only 6500 Mach1s out and 1000000000000 cobras just doesnt make sense.....
Dont forget the engine has 10/1 compression. I hope it holds up to the turbo or its bye bye engine.:D

01 Cobra's have 3000 something hard tops and 6000 something verts.... kind of limited as well.... a cobra has an IRS which doesn't let you launch like a solid axle like ours... totally different car. There are no 02 cobra's......

If he runs low boost and his setup is done properly the engine will have no problems. It's his car let him do what he wants with it....

Good luck Sandman. Hope everything works out so you can show these non beleivers that it can be done.

Hey thanks buddy! I have noticed that most of the people that are against this are first time mustang owners or people who have never had a power adder.

I say you payed for the car, do what makes you happy. I personally think it's cool to see someone going the turbo route instead of the all to common supercharger route. I would love to see power figures when you get them!

And even if it's "bye bye engine", now you have an excuse for forged internals, and thus...more boost! Would I do it to a limited addition Mach 1? Well, maybe and maybe not, but this is currently the only 4 valve NA engine available in a new mustang short of transplanting a 32 valver into another car. Plus now it looks like they're makin em for another year anyways.

SWEEEEEEET !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey i will wash & wax your car for a year if you give me a ride in that beast..:D

If i had the $$$$ i would boost mine too.
What kind of blow off valve would you be using ?? HKS/G-READY ?? Happy swooshing:D

That certainly doesn't apply to me. I'm not against your project at all. I'm looking forward to seeing how fast that thing is gonna be. That car should be a beast. My whole issue was the fact that the odds are against it holding up long term due to the c/r, hypereutectics and the weak rods but I hope you prove me wrong. FWIW, I'm about to be on my fourth Mustang and my eighth musclecar and I've owned three cars with power adders I installed. Two survived and one went like a grenade in the middle of I-90 in Ohio:D

Sandman, now that you've had it for a while, what are your long-term impressions of the turbo? I've had that idea floating around in my head for a while, and an opportunity to add one in the spring has arisen. Thanks

I cant wait to get my TT mach back. The withdrawals are almost unbearable now. I may have to go "test drive" one at the car dealership.

everything is going great! I love the raw power, it's a blast to drive. drove 60 miles to the track, ran easy 11's, drove 60 miles back. It drives like a stocker until you smash the pedal.:D

What track do you run in that area. Penwell? Abilene? San Angelo?

so far I have run at penwell, and Abilene. I ran the 11.8 at penwell in 4500ft. air. The night I ran in Abilene it was just on 17" dr's and pulled an 8.0@ 93 mph in the 1/8th.

Is Penwell an NHRA track. Do they require Cage for sub 11.99 cars? Its been at least 20 years since I have been to that track when I was a kid. Used to pass by it all the time when I lived in Midland. I would venture to say here at HRP you would be knockin on 10's door.

Our track is IHRA and I think it's 11.50's for a cage. I am pretty sure NHRA is 11.99.

Off the subject of turbos but still in the power adder class, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords this month has a vortech Mach. They obviously had to do the same thing and dismantle the shaker.
