I did my best to beat the strom home tonight but didn't quite make it. Got hailed on  Doesn't appear to have damaged the car but I will have to clean it up to really tell.

On another note......these stock tires just don't cut it in the rain!! This is the first time I have really driven in hard rain and they just don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling to say the least. The car started to get away from me a couple of times and I wasn't driving it fast at all.

Anyone else noticed these tires are bad when it rains? I can see I am going to have to buy something I can trust when the wet stuff comes down. I had put some Firestone SZ50s on my 97 Cobra and they were great in the rain....I may go back to them.

Hey Verk,

I was driving down Hwy 10 in Hurst at 3:30 this afternoon only to be caught in golf ball and baseball sized hail. It was unbelievable I got the Mach home and I have two small dents in the roof, that's it. It sounded like someone was literally hitting the windshield and the roof with a hammer. Needless to say when I got home from work I was relieved that was all the damage I had. I was expecting considerably worse. I'm hoping a paintless dent repair shop can help. Good luck to all those that were caught in this storm. This has convinced me I'm buying a beater to go back in forth to work in and leave the Mach safe in the garage.

You and I got caught in the same storm it sounds like. I am also going to look into getting a beater for the bad weather days. Between the rock chip in the hood yesterday and the hail today, the poor Mach hasn't had a good week. :(

The best way to remove hail dents is with dry ice. Ask any good body shop.

Thank god my Mach I was tucked away in my garage and the Grand Am took the beating. I just kept thinking about the 2 new (overpriced) Mach I's a had just seen sitting on the dealer lot, bet they wish they would have sold them at MSRP. The weather definatly is strange because it was sunny and hot and hailing.

Glad your baby was safe and sound.

Since they are calling for more of the same today, you can bet my Mach is tucked away in the garage today. Between the rock chip on the hood Wednesday, and the hail yesterday, the poor thing has been through enough for one week.

Sorry to hear about the hail damage.

I decided early in the week that this was a no Mach 1 week. Too much volitile weather! I live in Dallas and use a Escort to get around in, little baby Mach 1 stays in the garage, unless weather.com can assure me there are clear skies. The Escort was out in the first big hail storm, if it had been the Mach1, I would still be in mourning!

nothing against you people from those sunshine states but i myself fellt just comfortable with these tires[more than i thought i would be].
but just getting done driving on nasty, slippery roads for the past 5 months or so i think i am still in my winter driving mode--not super careful but i do pay more attention

i got pulled over once by a texas trooper driving in the left lane of I-40 when it had 2 or 3 inches of snow,he let me go with a warning and i always told myself that it was because he seen my pennsylvania license:ANGEL:

Granted, it doesn't rain all that much down here, depending on the time of year however, the GoodYear Eagle F1s I had on my C5 Corvette were good in the rain. Even at above posted speeds in the rain they never gave me the feeling that they were going to get away from me unless I did something really stupid.

Maybe its just me but the Eagle ZRs on my Mach 1 just do not instill confidence in the rain. They feel like they are always on the edge of letting go.

I replaced my BF Goodrich Comp T/As on my '97 Cobra (which were very good dry tires) with Firestone SZ50s and the performance in the wet was greatly increased. I guess it just comes down to the individual and their confidence level.
