Wish we could top out at 190+ MPH though!! But, for that 13-14 second time period, I'll take it!!

My 99 Corvette would top out at 175 but really.....where are you going to drive it that fast?!?!

I had it up to 155 a couple of times and it was rock solid but my biggest fear was that some guy would misjudge the closing speed and pull out in front of me and I would end up being five miles of splintered fiberglass.

Wanna feel really good about the Mach 1? How about comapring it to the Ferrari 308, like Magnum P.I. drove. What an underwhelming piece of #*&%! It ran 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, and topped out at a stunning 135 mph! The follow up 328 went 6 flat 0-60 and topped 150 while the unloved 348 cut 0-60 to 5.3 seconds with a 160 top end. The F355 may be more a problem with a 4.6 sec. 0-60 and a 180 top end.

My uncle used to have a Ferrari Dino that he was always raving about. I was a little brat at the time so I don't remember the car but when he came to visit me 8 years ago I had an LT1 Corvette. I remember he climbed into it in the garage and sat in it for like half an hour. Finally his wife came out and said "I that as fast as the Ferarri"? (In a posh British accent). He said "Oh no, the Ferrari was faster". I'm thinking, "Ah,whatever", just because it is American does not mean it is slow and I doubt his Ferrari was faster. He actually threw his precious Ferrari into a ditch on a country lane so he did drive his cars hard so I respect him for that. I found out later he also owned a European Ford Cosworth to tool around in. I think they are like 220 HP and can be easily tweaked. Picture this: The guy (60 years old) gets in a race with a Jaguar and they are running like 140 to 150 mph on the Motorway. Turns out it's an undercover cop and they take away his license for little a while. Last I heard he had some slow diesel Benz he was putting around in cause the wife didn't want him to end up in jail. Poor guy.

Ah, the poor Dino 246. Named after the late son of Enzo, the actual car did not even have the Ferrari logo or name anywhere on it! Other the very unwanted 208 Turbo, the only V-6 (Fiat) powered car from Ferarri does give up performance to even our 'lowly' American hot rods, but what it does not give up is the Pininfarina design that will hold up to the test of time.
