Finally they give it a V8. Based on the SSR Motor I think.

Doesn't do much for me....too bad it's FWD....but it's still a nice car.

Lowered , nice wheels , RWD and supercharged with 450 hp , then I think I would like it :)

Why would someone want a fwd monte carlo? You can't make much more h/p without doing damage to the driveline. Wait a few more months, and you will probably get a 2005 G.T.O for about $22,000. Rear wheel, 400 horse, but still butt ugly, IMHO.

G.M. will be giving them away.

G.M. should have spent their money on a retro GTO body for the LS2, instead of putting out the SSR for $50,000+.

Ford is making a killing on the new Mustang. Can a new Mach 1 be far behind?

GM is restyling their Chevy line-up. That new Monte front end looks like the new Malibu and Impala front end that will be coming out next year. They are trying to do like Dodge, and make all of their line-up look like a family. Let's thank God the Corvette doesn't look like that!

My sister use to have a SS Montecarlo till it got stolen and burned. When it was rear wheel drive it was a fun car to drive. This new one just doen't get me either.

Can someone call fire department, I think I smell rice burning from the china buffet. Oldsmobile is no longer around and the rest of GM is going down fast, this car is horrible. Most MOD money to be spent on that car would be to beef the front end up so when the traction bites the front drive train doesn't leave the rest of the car behind it.
Does this mean we will be seeing these at the track with drag radials on the front tires and the rear end jack up so high you look out the back window to see the stars at night, so all the weight is on the front end..

Well, on the bright side it makes an avalanche look good! IMO waaaaay too many bumps and bulges. Looks like pimp my ride got hold of it.

To each their own. I don't like the looks personally but there are only a few things that I do like (C6 Z06 Vette). I could understand a Chevy guy getting one of these but they are making a huge mistake keeping them front wheel drive. That is just stupid! The only thing GM has done good as of late is the C6 Vette.

For those of you who think this FWD stuff is new to the Monte, they've had FWD since 1995. My wife has had 4 Monte Carlos since 1995 and her current one is an '02 SS which flat out books off the line. It's a great "WIFES" car. She thinks it's quick (notice I didn't say fast), insurance is cheaper than my Mach, and it really looks great. I don't know about the front end of the new one, but as with the current SS, it'll take a little getting used to....as I'm sure my wife will end up with one here soon.

Meh... but I'm glad to see that a V8 FINALLY made it's way back into an SS model... although I think they could have squeezed a little more out of a 5.3L.

You would think they (gm) would have learned their lesson when they came out with the new gto......in a way it really is amazing that so little thought comes from gm in terms of styling. Their engines are top notch and I like the interiors (sometimes). Oh well.......I guess that means Ford will sell more Mustangs. I bet the goat and ss guys really cry when the Shelby comes out with 450 to 500 HP...

Well those Nascar fans were impressed with 200 HP Supercharged V6. So this should just have them all trading in those specially painted, fem-boy rides (sorry fem-girls drive them as well) just the guys look rediculous. Did the Dale Earnhardt chrome glasses come with the car.
ps. No disrespect to Earnhardt & company, I understand talking bad about the Earnhardts' is like pissing on the bible to the red neck community. I'm not impressed, let me know when they can wheel a 325 MPH Mustang in a 1/4 mile like the man, John Force, then your talking.....

I see the NASCAR edition all the time. Even had a guy look at my car and smile with a smart ^%$& grin on his face, like he had something. Caused me to bust out laughing, which really confused him.

FWD and V8 is an oxymoron. What's the weight distribution, 80/20? Chevy just isn't getting it - as previously stated, thank God for the Vette folks. None of their other cars scream (or even whisper) excitement or style - perhaps some think the SSR has style but it does nothing for me. As for the Monte Carlo, I don't know whether to drive it or fill it with goldfish.

I think the word most of us use, boring, pretty much sums it up. Seems like GM is trying way too hard with tweaking the previous models of their vehicles, as they did with the Corvette. They don't realize that they did a great job with the vette, but this monte is just rediculous! And I know what y'all are saying about the NASCAR fans out there. They will surely be happy to see this car in production with all kinds of NASCAR decals and badging on it. I don't like downing anyone, but NASCAR seems to be obsessed upon in this world now. All you hear about is NASCAR. How did it get so popular? Are there really that many people that prefer NASCAR over Drag Racing? Guess everybody has their own preferences, but so do I.

(hmm, that engine sounds sooo familiar) Granted, it's no NASCAR model or anything close to exciting, but that thing flat out MOVES......oh yeah, forgot to mention, it's front wheel drive! As far as the front wheel drive goes, living here in the midwest with all of that white stuff we get in the winter, having a nice powerful V-8 and FWD is like having your cake and eating it to!

I think that new Monte Carlo SS will be a hit with the Monte Carlo lovers!
