Gonna do the same myself this spring. Gonna go with BFG's though.

Good to see more New Englander's getting their rides; even if we can't drive them. Got mine 12/4 but haven't had it out for 5 weeks now.

Welcome:CHEERS:

Being from the old school myself, I also like the wider tires on the rear, but having owned several SN95 Mustangs now, you might want to reconsider this. It's going to get expensive. These Mustangs like to chew up the front tires in a relatively short time, my 98GT it only took 20k miles to wear away the outside grooves. People tell me you have to rotate the tires on these things like every 3000 miles and I never did. I guess you see where I'm going with this? If you have bigger tires on the rear, then you can't rotate them to the front. If you can't rotate the tires, then be prepared to keep replacing them in short order.

By putting the 275's on the rear I'll save the 245's that come off (only 1K miles on them now) and use the as the next pair of fronts.

No added $$$$.

You can put 275s on a 8" rim but that is stretching it and they don't provide as much contact patch as they do on a 9" rim. When I went to 275s on my '97 Cobra I went with a 9" Cobra R wheel.

I want to keep the stock wheel on my Mach 1 and am not really comfortable with 275s on the stock 8" rims so will maybe go to 255s when the time comes to replace them.

I know people are putting 275s on 8" rims I just think it is pushing it.

Does anyone know...would this tire change affect my speedometer calibration, gearing, etc?

Any changes that would need to be made to accomodate the tire change?

Anything else affected?... I would love to make the same change

No changes are required. The 245/45 and 275/40 are within 20 thousands of an inch in diameter. Hense the gearing and speedometer are not affected. From what members are reporting, seems like clearance is not an issue with stock rims either.:) :)

Now to the big question.................Do you think it would be a problem if you were to lower it by 1 to 1.25"?

The Steeda sport springs would give it a sweet lowered stance, but do you think the 275's in the rear would cause fender rub??

BTW: Who were you able to CON into letting you trade in your tires..........I've asked 3 places this week if they'd do that, and nobody would, even though I haven't even cracked 150 miles on my car!

going with 275/40/17 Nitto 555R Extreme II's.. made with a stiffer sidewall for road racing.. be ok for drag strip.. good for auto X and good for street :)

either 245 of those.. or falkens in the front..
