View Full Version : So who's putting gears in their Mach 1?

Down the line, my Mach 1 might see some 4.10s :D

I think 3.73s would be a waste of time and money since it already has 3.55s. What are the rest of you thinking?

Since I already have a set of new, in-the-box 3.73's, I'll probably install those; otherwise the gears are just sitting around acting as a carpet-weight. With the increase in low-end torque over the '01 Cobra, I don't think the 4.10's will be necessary for me. For cars that see a lot of dragstrip duty, the 4.10's are probably the better choice.

3.90's or maybe 4.10's eventually. i don't think the 4.10's are too extreme. And mine will see some strip use.

3.73s since I have them laying around also. May go with 4.10s later, but not sure if it will matter once I add a s/c.

Hmm, 3.90s. Forgot about those. :D

Mine will probably see the strip once a month or so from March to October.

Am I the only one here thinkin 4.56...with a good set of drag radials and a possible 7200rpm redline you could tear up the streets and the 1/4.

but using the times we saw from Atlanta, can anyone give me an idea of what 1/4 mile time & speed improvements 4.10's would make over the 3.55's?

Thanks in advance. :??:

You have to remember that the runs in Atlanta were in 95 degree heat... terrible weather for racing. In cool 60-70 degree weather, I bet they could have pulled a 12.7

Otherwise, gears usually cut off about 2 tenths (maybe 3) as long as you have TRACTION and you can DRIVE!!! If one of those key elements are missing, your times will get worse.

If the Mach 1 will rev to 7000 rpm why not 4:30 gears?

Do you still have the stock diff and axles in your Cobra? If so how are they holding up? If not, what diff and axles did you go with? Auburn, Eaton, 31 Spline??????
