I just set up online registration for the annual
autocross school here in Dayton. It will be held at
Wright State University this year --- they have a
very nice lot for us to play in! The date is May 2 and
only costs $20, you must preregister and it's open to
the first 50 entrants. We'll have loaner helmets
if you need one.

This link should take you to the details:

Any questions, send me an email.

Woohoo! I was waiting for this to open up, as I was not going to freeze my butt off in March here in Cincinnati. Thanks for posting!

I've got a buddy with a 911 registering also and will keep trying to shame some others into it also.

Looking forward to this.

Crissy, question about the traction lok... I remember Mike Bell telling me he was rebuilding your diff on a regular basis from autocrossing. Did it take a couple events or was it trashed after each one?

Tony, have you had to rebuild yours yet?

Just a little nervous about wearing mine out.

Thanx, Scott

BlkMachWon,

I have not rebuilt the rear differential in the Mach 1. I only went autocrossing 4 times last year. A previous season back in 1998, I had 8 races in a '96 Cobra and never any problems with the differential. I think Crissy and Kent autocross in many more events that I do.

Plus, I "hold out" a little to keep the equipment safe, since it's a daily driver.

I think you will be OK and not need to be concerned. If anything, tire wear is probably a bigger consideration.

I don't know who Mike has been rebuilding, but we do our own,
out of necessity, because we sure couldn't afford to pay someone
to do it every 3 events. :D

We had to rebuild ours the first time after 6 events----but that's
with 2 drivers who are driving the car as hard as they can. We
usually have an average of 34 events on our calendar and with 2
drivers ours is taking a beating. It was getting rebuilt after 3
events and Kent is great at it if you ever need to tackle the job
yourself. We've had several people come to our garage to
learn how to do it on their Mustangs.

I think your diff will be fine.....just starting and on street tires
don't worry.

Crissy,

Can you check the link to register? I am unable to access it. Thanks!

Crissy, Mike said he used to rebuild your t-lok and I got the impression (you confirmed) that he didn't any more.

I'll talk to Kent at the event and see if I can look over his shoulder sometime when he's rebuilding one. I would like to know how to do that.

Tony, my car is a daily driver also and that was my concern.

Thanx to you both for the diff. reassurance.

Hmm, dunno about Mike. I may be having one of those
frequent "fake blonde" moments. :??: I try to stay as
far away as possible when the diff cover is off---yuck!

Tony---you may have been trying to access it while I
was making a couple updates last night. Should work
fine, but let me know if it doesn't!

More likely Mike was having a moment. :D

Come on Crissy, there is nothing better then smelling friction modifier for hours on end. The first time I rebuilt my diff. I thought I was going to throw up.

We might be missing the Peru Tour this year, Wash. DC is having a Pro this year and we may skip Peru to due a Pro. I haven't run a Pro in a couple of years and I feel the need.

I haven't done an "official" Pro, but a nearby region has a No Pro
Solo every year and I love it! The courses are a lot longer and the
straights are a little illegal.....shhhhh. :D

Hopefully we'll still see you guys at Nats!

I have already scheduled the vacation for Nationals, so we'll see you there. I have Heather doing a school and will get her alot more seat time this year, hopefully she will give you a little competition. Have you done anything more to the car (that you are willing to share anyway).

I ordered a set of the new Hoosiers, should be able to run them early April. I'll let you know if there is anything special.

Heather improved tons just from the Tour to Nats. An Evo
school will be great for her. I'm gonna do a Phase 2 and
hopefully a challenge school this year. We haven't touched
the car yet.....Surprisingly our first set of tires this year will
be the new V710's, we'll have to share info!

Tell Heather I said hi!
