I know this is retarded but does anyone else not like being called "bro"?
For some reason I just do not like being called it, but I also do not ever correct anyone that has called me it, it is just one of those names being called that I haven't cared for. I'm sure there is other names people do not cared to be called. The other one that gets me is when a couple times, a guy way younger than myself calls me "son" that one is just funny sometimes, but any ways any one else has any names they here people being called or that you been called that you do not care for?

I call everyone "Dude" and by last name only, even friends for years, guess it is a military thing...must be the region ASH, here in SE GA I have NEVER heard ANYONE call someone "Bro" or even use the word. Guess I don't really like being called a A**hole, but sometimes if the shoe fits..lol

LOL I do not know if it is the area I live in, but maybe a city thing, idk to be honest. I always think of CA surfers when I hear "bro" being used

I know of one guy at work that calls me "bro" once in a while. It doesn't bother me because it's just once in a while. The only guys I call bro (sometimes) are the few guys I've been best friends with for 30+ years.

On the other hand, I've got the worst habit of saying "Man", or "Hey man", or "Hey man, what's up?" all the time. Even if I know their first names, or are friends with them. It's just an automatic response for me. It might be from being born in the 60's, who knows.

About once a year I'm inevitably called "son" by someone older than me. I look at it this way. If your never called "son" by anyone, then you know you're old because all the people that would have called you "son" are dead.

Thunderbolt, I will say I do not get bothered by older men calling me "son" it is their wisdom that gets past down, I'm sure I say "Hey" or something, my main word is "buddy" if I'm friends with them and have used the word "brother" for best friends,

I pretty much use "bro" 100% sarcastically. Now, "man" and "dude", all the time.

I remember when I was younger it would bug the hell out of me when somebody around my age would go "hey kid". Drove me nuts. Also, when in class and kids would say "hey miss!" to the teacher.

after all the things my wife has called me in the last 20 years, pretty sure "bro" wouldn't phase me in the least

You can pretty much call me anything, except "Sweetie" when I'm in a restaurant. I always tell them "I ain't your sweetie". :headbang:

Just don't call me late for supper.

I've never been called Bro' though.

I'm guilty of this. I think it comes from my background in church. That sounds weird, but people would introduce folks as "Brother Tom" or the like, and I guess I just got used to it and have shortened it to "bro". I call people buddy alot too, but always sir or m'am when speaking to elders.

get called 'bro' all the time by a few people that I classify as friends, it does not bother me at all. Kind of their way of greeting their 'friends'. Look for the usage, if it is because it is a friendly greeting then the word used should not matter.

Me personally, I don't use 'bro'.

It doesn't bother me to be called bro, but I have never uttered the word. It just seems very odd to me. Like hugging another man.

I'm not sure when all that started, but unless your family, I went to high school with ya, or I'm getting ready to throw ya the bone. I really don't want another man that close to me.

I love those commercials lol.

I hate how EVERYONE younger than me uses N___A! That would have caused all kinds of issues back in highschool many moons ago. Every white kid even a lot of white girls are using N---A all the time lol. Really, "bro" would have caused probs in school in my day too. I use "man" all the time and will use "bro" if someone uses it to me. I figure it's like dude for modern times. I still don't know exactly what "bruh" and "brah" mean lol.

I've never liked people who call me Bro, Brother, Dude or especially Pal. I will make exceptions to some of the Bro style stuff if it actually comes from my brother or close friend.
On another thought, I can't stand Chicks in general who when hearing something cute do the AwwwwWWWe response. Its just so generic and annoying. :grr:
