Rumors be as they may, can be true , if you crave a V8 better decide soon !
.The 2015 motor line-up is...
2.5 4 cyl@300 hp
3.7 6 cyl@ 300 ish hp
5.0 8 cyl @ 475 hp

Additional sources are stating that in the future a V8 will a option only on high end products. Car and driver states that the up market Mustangs are the GT 500 and the Boss only. The GT will most likely be omitted for a V8 since the V6 offering could be the twin turbo V6 @ 300 ++hp

Just rumours. The new vette was possibly getting a twin turbo v6... or so some said.

You simple can't drop the v8 from a car like the mustang/corvette/camaro. It simply won't sell in the numbers it does now, people expect the v8. I'm not saying a turbo v6 is worse then a v8, when you drop a grand on an equal hp turbo v6 and NA v8, the v6 will run away from the v8. I'm just saying it's something buyers of that niche expect.

No way their turbo 3.7 would make only 300-350hp. Older reports said a turbo 4, small displacement v6, and revised v8. If that's true, I could certainly see a turbo 3.0 v6 making 350hp. Either way, I watch news on the turbo 4 very eagerly. I'll be buying some car in another year or two and a lighter, IRS mustang with a tuner friendly engine sounds mighty nice.

The eco boost in the trucks already make 365/420.

If Ford wants to kill the Mustang, take the V8 away from the avg buyer. It will take it out of the muscle car category and put it in the ricer one.

That's a little... wrong don't ya think?

Flame on if you feel compelled, but the(roughly) 90-00 Supra, rx7, 300zx and even 3000gt were cars that usually embarrassed same year mustangs in overall performance. That's not rice.

But I do agree the GT's primary buyer base would prefer a v8.

Why would ford design a new engine and only use it for 4 years? It doesn't make sense. It will have a v8

Can't replace the sound of a V8. I wouldn't even consider a non V8 stang, I don't care how much power it would have.

I feel this way about my current "loaner". My '12 GT is at the dealer (whole other story!) and they gave me a '13 F150 5.0.

Having driven the Ecoboost V6 F150 I can tell you without a doubt that I would have the 5.0 over the more powerful V6. The V6 was SO quiet I had to look at the tach to see if it was still running :12:. Not my idea of what a pickup truck should sound like. At least do something with the exhaust on the 6-er so you can hear it. The 5.0 just has that V8 grunt and brashness to it.

Take a V8 out of the Stang and it will die. At least in the US.

I'm not even remotely worried about the lack of a v8 offering the the GT. The guys at Ford aren't idiots. However, the GT will likely move up market a bit. If I were to make predictions they will have the base SVO, call the v6 a ???, then the GT, possibly a mach 1, and the GT500.

I will agree with one thing though, the number of v8 offerings out on the market are going to dwindle away very, very quickly in the next 5 years. I'm just glad to see companies are finding ways to keep the power numbers up at the same time. No one wants to fall back into the late 70's -80's dark ages again. The flip side of course is that the average cost of a new car is skyrocketing as are maintenance costs. Just gives me more of an incentive to keep the mach.
