OK i am really debating wether or not it is worth the time and money to do the cobra intake cams and what the real difference is? If it is a steeper lobe then the stock mach cam why not change both? or just go all aftermarket cams?

i also been looking for an aftermarket intake manifold for my 2004 mach 1 for a N/A set up. does anyone know of a well reviewed product.

Ported stock intake, and if I remember right 98 intake cams are about 12-15hp.

The Cobra cams are gonna give you a bit more than that if done right...more like 20+ rwhp & 20+ rwtq.
Aftermarket cams with no springs required are a bit more hp but 4x the cost plus more expensive on install!!!

Add the Ported manifold and it's going to add 10hp/10tq ? (Im guessing cause to date no one has done an Intake only before/after dyno)

BUT, peak numbers are only worth so much, space "under the curve" means the most to me mid range.

With full exhaust cobra cams and ported intake your looking at 335ish rwhp, IMO then ported intake isn't worth the the price tag for the gains. $550 for the intake, 100-250 for cams depending on cam bolts, if you degree them or not. so now at most your up to $800.

Both are well worth the investment.

DtoD cam install will net 20hp, degreed and advanced will net a hole lot more. Todd (nasvt) does a hell of a job with his intakes and so does Roy

Not always. I did mine dot to dot and installed longtubes and got a tune and only picked up 22rwhp and lost 12rwtq. So degreeing them IMO is a good idea you might get lucky like modularspeed did but you could wind up with a turd. Also don't expect numbers like some have got unless you have all the little boltons too. With full exhaust cai cams portes intakeand a tune 335rwhp is about all your going to get.

It just depends on what your stock cams are degreed at. If you get lucky and yours are degreed well, dot to dot will be awesome. If your not so lucky and your cams are not degreed in good spec, then you will see less impressive results. Its kinda a hit and miss.

About a year ago, MMFF did a before and after using a ported intake on Pete's car aka shake n bake. If my memory serves me right your guess is fairly close (maybe a little high) on the numbers but i think he was also cammed in those test.

I'd like to see that article....if anyone can find a link to it.

"... The intake and spacer helped pick up an extra 10 rwhp and 12 lb-ft of torque, which we found impressive for a ported intake. When you look at the graphs for the stock and ported intake laid over each other, the ported intake gave us consistent gain throughout the entire rpm range, with the largest gains at the peak...."

Doug, remember those numbers are being shown with the Comp cams installed. Not sure how much you would pickup with the stock cams.

Oh I realize that, there is a ton of stuff involved in this build...all parts effect the gains of the Ported intake.
