Camcorder Recommendations?

We're thinking about buying a camcorder to tape our 18 month old boy, etc, etc. Can you get a decent one for $250ish? Does anyone have recommendations? I don't know squat about them!

My wife bought a Flip video camera and it was inexplicably broken within a year. We probably used it 5 times. Sucks. Don't forget that alot of digital cameras can also take excellent video so you do not necessarily have to buy a video only device.
