i open to different tire suggestions. all this will be going on my mach with bolt-ons....lt's, o/r x, catback, 4.10's, 1/2" spacer, cai, and a tune soon. i do plan on beefing up the rear end also. does this set-up sound right to you? would any of you make any changes? this is mainly a street car...but i do like to go to the track and run often. thanks in advance guys...im really excited about getting these.

You need to find a radial tire for the front since you are running drag radials in the rear. Also get the screw in type valve stems. You will have to grind the banjo bolt a bit in the rear. The hubcentric spacers with the studs is what you want.

ok cool..ill look into finding a radial tire...i saw in another thread talk about a 165/80/15..so ill look for that. and screw in valve stems..gotcha. im probably gonna order this stuff thursday when i get paid so i wanna make sure i got it all like it needs to be. thanks for the input!

cool...i looked them up..alot cheaper than those front runners i posted! thanks guys that saved about $100!

anyone have any other suggestions on drag radials? i was just gonna get mickey thompson et street radials because i hear they hook pretty good. and i figured drag radials would be less shock on the drivetrain than slicks or even et streets. im used to running slicks on all my fwd cars i had and i used to do 6500rpm clutch drops with those.

im still trying to decide how i wanna go about doing my axles and diff. i want 31 splines and know it would be best but i also read that the 28's can take a good beating...i dont race at the track alot but i would like to run my car hard without worrying. any thoughts? i know its been beat to death but it seems to all be personal preference. we all know 31's are better but are they needed for a minor bolt on car?

The MT Drs are a good choice.

Aren't they heavy though?

Aren't they heavy though?

hmmm...interesting

according to the mickey thompson website they weigh in at 31lbs each.

hoosier claims 22lbs for there drag radial of the same size and 21lbs for the quick time d.o.t. and the qtp's are 17lbs in 26 X 9.50-15 LT.

anyone run hoosier drag radials? or just have any suggestions in general about tire choice?

I have read on here the Hoosiers hook pretty good as well. Never knew the MTs were that heavy. Maybe I will try the hoosiers for my next set. Interesting.

Get on her scout! Get that cc out and charge it! :)

I have run 15 inch Hoosier's Mickey Thompson's and Nitto's of the 275/50/15 size.
Hoosier hooked the best as they have a soft sidewall. They also did not last me 5 weekends of racing! (ouch)
MT's are almost as good as the Hooisers and lasted a lot longer.
Nittos lasted the longest and are a very nice street tire. Once I got over 300 hp the Nittos would not hold a 4500 to 5000 rpm launch.
At 360 hp I had to launch off idle or close to it.

Hoosiers are dot stamped but not legal for the road. Your best bet would be MT's but be careful of the weight as they are heavy suckers. Mine started to have a bad vibration near the top end when hitting 100 mph. I never did find out why it did that as I had tired turning the tires, rotating them 180 degress and then balancing them. Lots of people use Mt's , maybe I just had a bad one cause I could not get it to settle down on the top end.

I am trying to research M&H tires as I want a nice drag radial for daily driving and I am running a 4.56 gear so the 28 tall tire would help in the gearing department. I may even try BFG's for daily driver, not sure yet.

For the track I use a bias ply tire and will not go back to a radial unless I switch the tranny to an auto as the hit that the stick gives them when launching at 5000 plus rpm is either hit or miss and hard on my parts.
Good luck with your choices.
